Or is it done by BCS rank as is the case with the BCS champ game?

I haven't seen as much of Luck as I would have liked. How does he look? He reminds me a little bit of Stafford and Matt Ryan in that I was surprised they had so much NFL hype despite stats that were merely good. Especially in Luck's case, since he's had very good teams surrounding him and I think that run heavy pro-style offenses would be ideal for putting up great efficiency numbers. I'm not saying the scouts are wrong to love him (good arm, big, athletic, smart), just surprised that he doesn't put up better numbers. I had the same thoughts about Ryan and Stafford (esp. Stafford) though, and one is a stud and one looks to at least be ok, so what do I know.

I think Luck looks really good. I followed his recruitment a little bit when he was a senior in high school and I really liked him. I wanted OSU to at least try and get him. I never thought he would be the #1 pick though, speaks to his development and coaching. I think he will be a really good one too.

Andrew Luck was an Elite 11 QB coming out of high school in 2007, along with two other names you might find familiar, Blaine Gabbert and Landry Jones.
Stanford would have been scary good if Gerhart had come back.
Also, Harbaugh basically did say F off to Rece Davis.

I thought it was funny when they said Luck wasn't highly recruited. He was a 5 star top 5 QB. He committed fairly early in the season in 2007 so he didn't get some of the bigger offers and was also looking at going to a higher education like Stanford and Northwestern. Also had Bama listed I think.

Stanford's offense was better for the same reason our offense was better going from '07 to '08. Their star QB went from FR-Soph and their O-line stayed together as a unit. Sure Gerhart would have been a plus, but they were pretty deep at RB. Next year they probably lose Luck and graduate most their O-line, so we know what comes next. And that's not counting if the coach leaves.
