I hope you walkers left several days ago. Otherwise, you may want to start hitchhiking.

Stop off in Palomos, Mexico across from Columbus, NM. It's where Pancho Villa launched his invasion from, and supposedly there are people buried under the floorboards of the toilet n one of the bars!

Shoot, the way things are right now if you just peeked over the border you could get you head lopped off.

I used to go to Palomas every 6 months to refill my meds. Not anymore, The entire police department (4 officers I think) fled to Columbus about 18 months ago. The Chief of Police kept going until he reached Albq. He sought asylum.

True.

True.

I saw where Guadalupe's last police officer disappeared or quit. I used to go to Mexico all the time and never had any major problems. I wouldn't get near it now.

Once in Palomas I was a kid and the local butcher thought it was funny to chase me in his bloody apron with a meat cleaver in one hand, yelling in Spanish. Trumatized me, probably part of what's wrong with me now:D

I thought I was going to have to walk from Clines Corners to Albuquerque today. I-40 was still a parking lot. Was supposed to get back to Albuquerque last night, but it took until about 10 1/2 hours ago to make it to mi casa.

As I posted elsewhere, if you're driving when the roads aren't icy, it's pretty scenic between the Route 66 Casino (west of Albuquerque) and the Painted Desert, then again at Flagstaff. Sedona is awesome, especially if you drive the old road from Flagstaff down through the Oak Creek Canyon and down the mountain into that canyon.

Went into Ablq last year from the east and it was a damn near whiteout. Some tense moments driving through that....
