Why would anybody want to watch this again?

Nebraska's worse now (injuries and the shine off Martinez) and Washington's better. Are they 30 points better? No. Will I watch it? At least the 1st qtr and then we'll see.

Personally I feel the Big XII did everything in their powers to put the screws to Nebraska on the way out the door. Mizzu went to a better bowl, Ok St went to a better bowl, aTm went to a better bowl. I understand the Cotton selection but the other two were a bit surprising. Seems the loser of the Big XII game gets unfairly punished. Think about Mizzu a couple years ago. Beat Kansas a week before the CG yet Kansas goes to a BCS game.

Go look at how they played through the Mizzu game, then after that game. They had the dropsies against Texas but after Mizzu they didn't look too hot. Except for a fast start against OU they played like doo-doo. OU played great after that fast start to help them look that way but still, this team started out like a NC calibur team (and many were saying just that) and then limped across the finish line.

Nebraska would have matched up very well with Iowa I think. Their defense, especially against the run, is light years ahead of Mizzu.

With the exception of the Bowls with a tie-in, like the Big 12 Champion to the Fiesta, and the BCS game, the bowls actually make their own choices. They try to get the best game they can, because it makes a difference in the money they get. The most the conference can do is present off their bowl eligible teams as desirable.

There is also an order of selection by the bowls. It rotates through. Because the Fiesta Bowl is hosting the Championship game, they got the last pick of the BCS bowls.

My husband's boss is on one of the bowl selection committees. They meet during the season and discuss possibilities. Fan travel is huge as the bowl can make a huge economic impact on the community.

So praise/blame the Big 12 office all you want, they had nothing to do with the bowl opponent for Nebraska. And a bowl is not going to make a choice that isn't in their best interest.

And that right there is what makes it very fishy to me as to why Nebraska didn't go before the Holiday. They would have travelled very well to both Insight and Alamo in my opinion. You might be right...the Big XII might not have meddled at all but I know I would take Neb over Mizzu every day of the week as far as travelling fans go.

we didn't exactly go "Greg Pruitt" running it against Mizzou, either.

I don't care what any of the reasoning is or was....you can say anything you want.....but the bottom line is no matter how you focking slice it.....this is the stupidest and most ignorant bowl game matchup I have ever seen selected. It makes ZERO sense.

This Washington team lost to Oregon 53-16, Stanford 41-0, and Arizona 44-14. If this game is within 20 I will be shocked.

I'm not saying it's going to be competitive but I don't think we will see a repeat of the 1st game....which is what the OP posted a link to. And I think it has more to do w/ Nebraska's injuries and motivation.

The first one was competitive until after halftime. They were only down 28-14. I think this game will be closer. Nebraska will run away at the end of the 3rd quarter.

I think Nebraska may lose this game. This is really making the Big12 look more like the Big Schmoo. The more I'm seeing how teams are manhandling the Big12 teams the less secure I feel about Saturday night.

If you mean TM will fumble backwards and then make passes for -1 yards to put them in 3rd and long.....

They just went 3 and out as TM got sacked by the all world washington huskies....tm limping off the field.....

Word I heard from a prominent Nebbish booster after the Big 12 title game is that Martinez would NOT be on the team next year. Apparently Martinez Sr. is a helicopter daddy like Craig James and he & Bo don't see eye to eye.

If that's true, then OU really doesn't want to be here this year, since a Uconn win would be the biggest upset in the history of the BCS. :O

In the old days Nebraska was good at the begining of the year and stay level till the last game. OU (with the wishbone) would get better and better with each game. I was always happy to play Neb at the end of the year back then.

Thinks would be a lot differant win wise if OU played NEB early, anyway, this year NEB got worse and worse...GOOD BYE BYE see ya hope you keep losing like texas.....

against WVU we don't have Reggie Smith, Demarco Murray, Lendy Holmes and Malcom Kelly. you could make the argument that those are our 4 best players.

We didn't care about that game. And it really didn't matter just like most bowl games. Boise was different we played our butts off and just got beat.

I'd have to slightly disagree with the WVU game. I recall prior to the game seeing the WVU players jumping all over the place and talking a little trash during the coin toss. What was our players doing? Mostly standing around looking like secret service agents, minus the suits. They ended up playing exactly how they looked, uninspired. I just hope the players don't buy into what most people are saying about the game with Uconn.

Hopping around and taunting before the game does not affect the final score.

Depends. Look at how some of our guys were before the NC game in 2000. Torrance Marshall was just talking trash going off like crazy.

It also helps that Martinez wasn't a surprise the second time around. By the end of the season he was banged up and teams knew how to handle him.

And you are absolutely correct. I'd just like our guys to come out fired up, foaming at the mouth, and all that stuff. Not coming out like they're attending a funeral. Of course, maybe that was the plan, being at WVUs funeral. The plan just didn't work that time. :(

Playing hyped up definitely helped Jefferson, who played for Ridgemont High back in the day. :D
