Flagged for running across the goaline? Its not illegal b/c it shouldn't be illegal. If it had been the last play of the game and him doing what he did ran the clock the rest of the way out people would be praising him for winning the game but b/c of what time it took place everyone is being whiney babies about it.

Someone brought up what stills did as a comparison and that's a horrible comparison what stills did was illegal and he deserved to be yelled at...what blackmon did was stupid but not classless.

Say what you want about your player not being classless to make you feel better that one of your players is a jackass. There is no reason to do that except to taunt, period. I've seen players get flagged for high stepping into the endzone and that actually helps you avoid getting tackled.

I do know Blackmon personally I used to whip him in basketball growing up. I wouldn't really call him "My" player though. If Broyles did the exact same thing I would have the exact same opinion, but you wouldn't you would be talking about how great Broyles did.

It was my understanding that the "excessive celebration" rule was enforced if the player engages in actions which are designed to draw attention to himself, and which are not otherwise within normal football activity. ( that is a synopsis, not a quote)

That was blatantly designed to draw attention to himself. Normal football activity would be to take the most direct, unfettered, route to the end zone.

Classless and a flag should have been thrown. If it were an OU player I would say the same thing.

He was running free down the right sideline with no one within 20 yards of him. When he got to the goal line he ran parallel to the line all the way acroos the field before he stepped over the line.

I know there was at least talk of enforcing celebration penalties from the spot of the foul, which would've given the Cowboys a first down on the 16 yard line. That's a bit stiff, and I'm glad that they don't do that. At least I'm assuming they didn't follow through with that. I guess they didn't throw a penalty at all? That's lame, and I'm almost certain that there is a rule in place to penalize that.

If guys were running into the EZ and exposing themselves to the opposing crowd/fans...i'd consider it taunting. The fun of making it to the EZ has been taken away IMO. I think most fans that are on the winning side would think this has gone to far but if your team got a steady diet of "IN YOUR FACE"....I guess we'd have to expect the ruling to come about.

In the NFL I think they decided to do it so they didn't have to stop the game and clean off the field after the fans chunked beers and crap at them.

It has to be regulated and if the fans had chunked a bunch of crap at him...it would have been funny. However...these days you go to jail and he might get a flag.

Yeah...the refs need to look at this one IMO and put an end to it.

I'm all for celebrating, but sometimes the refs throw stupid flags. Like the tOSU game where the player was showing his special nike gloves with an O on it to the crowd and got a flag. Taunting on the other hand has no place in the game. Broyles at tech last year deserved a flag, blackmon last night deserved a flag. I thought an official was in Gundy's face following the play and since nothing else happened it had to be about controlling his player's behavior or they'd get flagged. Apparently, the ref's warning was lost on Mikey. "I don’t like to taunt,” Gundy said. “But he cut across the field and was having a little fun, and proving his ankle was back to normal.”

The poke who did get flagged (two 15-yard penalties in the first half), Markelle Martin, should have been ejected, imo. That guy plays right on the edge and sometimes over the line of being dirty.

Are you being serious right now. Plays dirty?? His first one was a good hit i thought. The guy was ducking down as he caught it and kel went parallel with the ground. I know in this day and age that it'll draw a flag though. The second one was a horse collar which we all know why that penalty is enforced today. But on the positive side the horse collar didn't affect the carrier's knees.
