Opinion.

By running along the sideline the ball was in play and something could have happened and not been rewarded a TD. It's OK to run horizontally anywhere on the field but near the goal line?

It was definitely unnecessary and he will hear from his coaches, but it wasn't worth a flag.

The intent was not there. The Arizona player was falling/ducking into the hit. Didn't see the need for a flag, and thanks to the refs, Arizona has 7 instead of 0 like they should.

I don't think intent matters much on helmet to helmet. Look at a player that gets a roughing the QB call because they tried to swat a pass from close range.

It's leading with the helmet...not helmet to helmet necessarily. Now if the helmet hits helmet you can guarantee a flag will follow. It's very unsafe for the defender to lead with his helmet as well. A kid I played high school ball with broke his neck and had to wear a halo for 12 months because of it.

I'd almost agree 100% except for the fact that this is a Post-Season Bowl Game where guys who are trying to show their stuff on TV are trying to get the most attention they can. If this was the MNC...I'd agree but this isn't a BCS Game and if there was a playoff system...these two teams wouldn't be playing at all.

I'm all for showboating...I absolutely hate the excessive celebration rules. if you don't like them doing something like that then tackle them and keep the out of the endzone. A few weeks ago when desean jackson had that long td catch against the cowboys and spun and fell backwards into the endzone was awesome and a few years ago when chad johnson and t.o. were trying to out do the other one's td celebrations that was fun too.

Blackmon I think ran to the other side b/c thats the side that abunch of okie lite fans were at and he went to celebrate with them.

Nobody here but the reaction of the media to two identical incidents say a lot. Jackson is known as a showboater and gets roasted for the same thing that Stokely was praised for a year earlier. That's all. I couldn't believe I was hearing folks in the media complaining about what Jackson did. Personally I enjoy seeing entire teams celebrate together. I have no problem with flashing the #1, or raising the ball, or even highstepping as you cross the goal line. It's just the over the top individual celebrations/dancing crap that I get bored with. Celebrate with your teammates whom w/out you wouldn't be making those plays. Jump up and bump chests or slap hands with them.

Nobody here but the reaction of the media to two identical incidents say a lot. Jackson is known as a showboater and gets roasted for the same thing that Stokely was praised for a year earlier. That's all. I couldn't believe I was hearing folks in the media complaining about what Jackson did. I think the guy is about half an idiot for some of his showboating gaffs (high school game and Cowboys game a year or two ago) but was impressed with what he had the presence of mind to do after a HUGE punt return.

1) no one criticized Jackson for his return against the Giants.
2) Jackson has a history of pulling d0uchetastic celebration moves in the past, including spiking the ball before he crossed the goal line.
3) Stokely was praised because if he hadnt done it, he would have left a few seconds on the clock.

Ya they did. Heard several folks on ESPN the next day mention it...and Toby Rowland (I think). It shocked me because I thought it was obvious he was looking for the clock to while running parallel to make sure.

I mentioned in a later post that Jackson's bonehead moves probably leant itself to their criticism.

OK, back to the game.

I don't think you and Bud Wilkinson would have gotten along.;)

Probably right...just different generations I suppose. I'm all for making the game more fun and exciting and for teams running the score up on teams they hate when they get the chance to do it even if it means it comes back to bite them down the road when those 2 teams meet each other again...When I played college bball my college coach was an ex OU player who played for tubbs and he was always preaching running the score up on people and talking about if we can score 200 on someone we're going to do it and it doesn't matter if you're playing your 4 year old sister you block her shot every time and you dunk it on her ***! I like that miami was cocky in the 80's hated that the did it against us, but I'm a fan of the cocky attitude when it comes to sports as long as you can back it up...if you can't back it up then you just need to shut up and play.

I agree with this statement too. Problem is b/c of the celebration rules you can get flagged for celebrating with your teammates.

Why is that? Why does it bother you how someone scores so much that you despise it? Do you find it offensive? Does it hurt your feelings?

I think it doesn't hurt the integrity of the game, and makes it more fun to watch and the guys who do it, it makes the game more fun for them. ... after all it is just a game and games are supposed to be fun.

As a former player and coach, I am of the belief that you should act like you have been there before. Whether its scoring a TD, making a first down, or winning the game be excited, but don't be a turd.

You are probably one of those who have never played a down, other than your little touch on the tush league with your boy friends, and need those kind of acts to enjoy the game.
