The SO has never been the Mount Olympus of brilliance, insight, or clearly articulated rationality, nor should it be. But it seems to have devolved a lot lately, apparently in coincidence with an influx of idle college sophomores from another board. Threads are jacked in unclever and unfunny scatological ways, as if the poster is a 4-year-old who thinks he can make the grown-ups laugh by saying "penis" 14 times an hour. It used to be that Dean would rip somebody with a colorful rant about anal sex or something every week or so, but now graphic references to sodomy are the first refuges of folks with nothing to say. There are also more canned, generic innerweb photos and such in lieu of original thoughts.

Even the basic quality of writing is getting worse. And I'm not not talking about "they're-there-their" or "you're and your," though there is plenty of getting that wrong, too (or is it "to" or "two"?). I am talking about some woefully incoherent posts that seem to have been written by 4th-grade dropouts who have been doing meth for 9 days and whose model for writing is Jenny Carlson (on meth). Complete sentences are useful for making thoughts clear; some of y'all ought to try writing them sometime. Then of course, there also seems to have been an increase in copied and pasted screeds from political propaganda blogs. We already had I am Rush's Parrot and Tuba, and they were sufficient. Now I see that they are not even the worst of the lot.

What's the point of this rant? I have no idea. Maybe I'm just enjoying being a cranky old SoB. (And I am. :cool: ) Maybe I'm even wrong. (No. Not likely.) It's just the internet, after all, so it's not that big a deal. And nobody makes me read your ****.

I just figured some of the more sentient posters might like to know that I have noticed the same things they have noticed. I also want to let some of you sophomoronical noob jobs know that you're just not as clever or entertaining as you think you are. Jerking each other off might have been a hoot somewhere else, but over here you are the worst of the bad --- you're boring. You cheat me out of even the measley few minutes of amusement I hope to derive from coming here. So eat **** and die. (And I mean that in the nicest possible way! :) )
