Avoid Flagstaff at all costs, take the Southern route (I-10). 24 plus inches of snow expected in the next 36 hours. I-40 and I-17 may be closed or a parking lot at best.:hot:

Thats lower elevation, should be good. Check weather.com. You must realize that Flag is mountain hump on the road at 7000ft and the road to PHX is a downhill slide followed by a very steep uphill climb up Mingus Mtns to Tonto basin. I hope this was helpful.

When I went to the Boise game I had to take the Southern route through West Texas. It looks like this time you can go to New Mexico and drop down, which isn't near as big of a deal. Like 30 minutes difference.

Whereas, the Southern route last time added 5 hours to the trip, because I-40 was shut down.

I don't know about the weather forecast but we took that route in 2006 from OKC to avoid I40 weather and it was interesting with all the small towns like Roswell along the way. Ruidoso was scenic (and a bit snowy) and the views coming into Las Cruces were nice at night.

Yeah, as I sit here in the bus station in Flagstaff because all the interstates are shut down, it's looking completely ****ed around here. Was on I-17 south for 3 hours after leaving Flagstaff and law enforcement turned everyone around and sent 'em back. Now the driver's hit his hours cap so we're doubly screwed. Might make Phoenix by tomorrow afternoon, unless one of you f'n hillbillies can come out and save a fellow Sooner, lol.

We hit Flagstaff at 11:45 a.m. this morning after leaving Gallup early to get going south by noon which was recommended. Ended up with snow coming down hard as we turned on I-17 and drove about 35 mph for miles until the snow finally stopped south of Sedona. Glad we got through the area before I-17 was closed. Pick-up trucks were sliding everywhere but my Toyota Highlander handled the driving very well with no slipping.

Coming back the southern route as have no desire to drive through the areas getting hit so bad.

We made this call about 3:00 yesterday in Albuquerque. Called OnStar, and they said they didn't see any weather problems going through Flag, and I knew that wasn't right. The iPad was slow connecting, so we eventually called the AZ roads number, and they said don't go through there. We were going to stay in ABQ and take the kids up on the Sandia Peak Tramway, but it was closed due to high winds, so we cancelled our hotel in ABQ and came on down to Las Cruces. Other than a little blowing snow coming into ABQ, we haven't seen a flake. Hell, it was about 60 degrees here last night when we stopped.

The Owl is generally considered the home of the original green chile cheeseburger. It is also regularly voted the best in New Mexico.

For some reason I've always loved driving that stretch of I-10 between Deming and Tucson. Drove it many times whiles I was in grad school at UofA and was surprised one winter at how much snow could pile up on an interstate just north of Mexico.

OK guys sorry I couldn't start a thread, and I want to tell some of our fans THANKS. We drove into glendale friday. Spent new years eve at a few establishments in tempe. Saturday morning we awoke to a phone call from the front desk of our hotel. We go outside to find out that someone had thrown a few rocks through our window and also through a few other Sooners windows as well. Now the part of the story were I want to say thanks: while waiting outside for a new rental car to be delivered, and filing police report, one of my fellow Sooners came by and offered to run a shuttle with his vehicle to and from the game, just to make sure we all made the game. I had never met this man before and would just like to tell him thanks very much for offering to take time out of his game day to help us. Hopefully he will read this and know that we appreciated it.

At 36000 feet the sky was clear and the travel smooth.

Interestingly enough, we spent a total of 6 hours in the air and 5 hours delayed in various airports over our entire trips duration in delays/layovers. I think that we drank in every bar in the Denver airport and one in OKC while waiting to finally depart.

Lefty's in the Denver airports serves a great burger with homeade chips. However, how does a bar not sell Coca-Cola? I'll never understand that!

I hope that everyone that attended the game has safe travels to and fro.
