Air Force FB team lost their mascot, The Bird. They released The Bird at the Independence bowl and he did not come back.

They quickly replace with the back up one and claim The Bird is found.

The real one end up in someone's pot somewhere in the great state of Louisiana.

Air Force Falcon, also known as "The Bird" went missing during the
Da Bird is safe, LOL!~

Independence Bowl game between the Air Force and Georgia Tech.

Perhaps it was bored by the low-scoring affair between two of the nation's best running football teams.

According to Yahoo!: "The Air Force Academy's live mascot, 'The Bird,' took advantage of his usual pregame flight around the stadium to flee the premises ahead of the Falcons' 14-7 Independence Bowl win over Georgia Tech, leaving Independence Stadium behind for a quick tour of the Shreveport nightlife – bars, casinos, eligible swallow-tailed kites on the town. According to the ESPN2 broadcast, The Bird eluded his handlers for the better part of three quarters before finally being spotted downtown, corralled and hustled back to the stadium for the victory party as the final seconds ticked down on the Falcons' win."

i went to the independence bowl when ou played in '99. i aint goin back either. i dont blame the bird for "flyin the coop".

way back in '82 I think it was, my Dad and I went to an AF-TU game... The Brid flew off that game as well... then he came back in the 3rd quarter, much to everyone's pleasant surprise...

Air Force stepped up the intensity in the 4th quarter once the players knew the falcon was back with them. Prior to that, their hearts were heavy, their attention distracted not knowing the fate of the bird. Whether real or a ringer, having the hooded avian on their sideline was the kick they needed, the oomph to get over the hump, drive the field and score the winning touchdown. Fly, falcon, fly!
