View Full Version : I listened to Jim Rome's radio show today

Honestly...I don't get it. Some people are absolutely obsessed over this show and talk about how hilarious it is. What I took from it was very little sports and a lot of reading stupid emails that Rome considers epic and callers who call in to make fun of other callers. Meh, I'll stick with Hannity

He's had some interesting rants like softball guy and golf guy, but yeah, most of it is reading E-mails.......bad E-mails.

Scott Van Pelt and Colin Cowherd are MUCH more entertaining IMO.

Colin Cowherd is the biggest ****** on the radio, imo.

Severe over compensating on how much of a "man" he is for 3 hours. Also he's arrogant and doesn't seem to know what he's talking about 80% of the time.

Jim Rome is your typical guy, who never played a down of football or any other sport for that matter. He did try out for the teams but was always holding a clipboard, a towel, or a players jock strap just to smell the sweat.

He is a tool of magnificent proportions.

Jim Rome is similar to Saturday Night Live. Maybe 1 out of 20 segments will be worthy so that if you put together of "Best of" Jim Rome it would be entertaining. Also like SNL, its peak was a long time ago.

But he's filling 3 hours of airwaves each day .... lots ... of ... space. Monday morning after a big weekend of sports can be good. The annual smack-off can have some funny bits. But it's definitely an acquired taste.

I recall the day after it had been reported that OU quarterback Rhett Bomar was dismissed from the team for receiving $18,000 over the year from an over-enthusiastic booster. Jim read an e-mail....

Dear Jim,

$18,000 a year!?! I wish I made $18,000!

Signed,

The entire state of Oklahoma.

War sharecroppers!

The e-mail was sent from someone in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Never got it either. Rome has no talent, and no personality to speak of. He speaks in short 5 word sentence bursts that hardly qualify as poignant or thoughtful and he just seems like a d*ck. The only good moment I can recall from Rome is when Jim Everett came across the table and attacked him after repeated warnings. i fully support more shows of Rome being attacked by NFL players though.

Dearest Harry,

You don't "get" Rome. What you think is instantly devalued by the fact that you claim thinking it. (It's like how, if a good player autographs something, the value goes up. Well, you're Darko.) He's uninteresting to the type of person that only wants to hear about OU football, OU football recruiting, NASCAR, and pickin' a golfer, sure, but some people in Oklahoma give a sh*t about what's going on outside of it. (Spare me the details about where you're from, too, 480, 'cause I could give a sh*t. I need your personal info like I need a limp d*ck at an *rgy. You don't have to live IN Oklahoma to have that narrow-minded approach to the world that plagues many Oklahomans, especially the uneducated, and the small-towners..)

In fact, the only thing that you got right in that whole post-holiday purge fest was this:

Hell, you are so good..

And while compliments are always appreciated, I think I'll hold off on feeling flattered by yours considering that you obviously feel the epitome of wit is to name yourself after a pair of testicles. I know it sucks that you've named yourself after what Bham wishes you'd drop across his forehead, which you should since he's swinging from yours like Ahmad Rashad did Jordan's, but together, the two of you will get out of this. I'll even help. It'll be easier for you to sort through sh*t if I'm not kicking it up, so consider this my present to you. I'm leaving. Happy Holidays.

Usually, after a few weeks layoff from the Super Bowl and signing day, I'm pumped for Spring Football talk and then post-scrimmage thoughts.
