My Ut buddy insist that despite Ut 5-7 season they still have more talent than any team in the conference and he used Rivals as his point. He blames coaching. I told him he was delusional. That the talent they have is vastly overrated.

You don't get it. Next year UT fans will point out that we were ranked #1 but only finished up (say) #5. Overrated!!

They will then point out that, although they ended up #20, they weren't even picked in the Top-25 preseason. That's surpassing expectations, which is far more noble.
