No, you're not.

There's a reason they keep separate record books in the WNBA and NBA.

They broke the NCAA record for most consecutive victories.

Not even close. Men's basketball players wore short shorts in the 1970's.

They had to ban dunking from 1967-1968 because it was getting so prevalent.

I don't think the women's game is quite there.

That's sexist.

If the women were a little more feminine and wore plaid skirts and stilettos I might be interested.

I only watch it on occassion now to catch a glimpse of Sherri

The dunk was banned longer than that. Heny Iba started it. He had mega power with the NCAA rules committee and when Kansas got a player named Wilt Chamberlain both the dunk was banned and the 3 second rule was instituted. Those UCLA teams that won 88 in a row? They were not allowed to dunk.

As far as the record for UConn women, I agree that men's and women's BBall are different games. Having said that, 89 consecutive wins in anything is quite an accomplishment.

That's amazing, given Iba made his bones with a 7-foot tall center before goaltending became illegal.

Miami (Fla.)'s men's tennis team won 137 straight duals, so no.

Unlike Wilt, THAT 7 foot tall center didn't cause problems for IBA.

seems like some rule was changed when Lew Alcindor went to ucla.

wonder if uconn women could beat any of the teams that ucla played during their 88 game streak.

Fun argument last night at a family pre-Christmas gathering.

What level of men's basketball would you have to go down to...

wait for it,

for the UConn women to be able to defeat them.

I said, the average high school 6A men's hoop team here in Oklahoma would beat UConn girls by 30 points. My little brother chimed in that Seiling varsity could beat them. (Seiling is a tiny NW OK town of a few thousand)

One of my aunts, that was a big-time college athlete, lost her mind...tried to strangle my brother and claimed UConn women could beat some of the lesser D1 men's schools.

I informed her that UConn women vs say,...UC Davis or a Richmond, would not even get a shot off and would probably go the majority of the game unable to hit the rim or backboard. Being honest sometimes makes you a bad person.
