Saw another thread about :stunned: building their own park with statues in it and started thinking about the rationale behind it... one Heisman Trophy winner and some rasslers, then it hit me - I WANT A STATUE OF DANNY HODGE OUTSIDE MEMORIAL STADIUM.

Mr. Hodge was the ultimate rassler and the ultimate good guy - he showed more than one litle kid about the right way of dealing with bad guys - you guys who used to see him on Championship Rasslin back in the black and white days know what I'm talking about.

I'd like to see him right there next to Billy, Steve, Billy, Jason, Sam, and Bud.

ARE YOU WITH ME?

I saw Mr. Hodge at the UFC Fight Night that they held in OKC last year. He still looked to be in good shape.

coolest place to see a wraslin' match. hot, cozy, and loud. makes you want to go out and destroy something after watching a meet there.

My dad's friend is pretty good buddies with Danny. I met him a while back and he broke a pair of pliers in his bare hand. He is a heck of a guy and very nice!

At a school assembly in the sixties, I saw him break pliers, turn apples into apple sauce, and then he asked for the 5 bilggest, strongest guys in the school to pin him in any position they wanted. Then, another person snapped their fingers and those 5 guys went flying in different directions. Totally awesome ! hahaha

Danny Hodge was probly the best wrestler to ever come out of OK, which makes him the best to come from anywhere !!!

but no one on this board should care.

I read an interview with Danny not that long ago. He said that he stopped breaking pliers because the newer ones tended to shatter and could be hazardous to the one doing the breaking. He blamed it on the cheap foreign steel they use now.

how on earth does one break a pair of pliers? I'd hate to shake hands with that guy!

As a kid I sold cokes at the wresting matches at St Marys High School...

Danny got hit by a chair and went down...blood was a flowing...I went to the back of the concession stands to get refills and there was Danny...joking and carrying on...after a minute or so he slapped on a 'bloody" bandage and went out to fight some more...

I was devastated....

Think about wrestling him (NCAA style). You go to the center of the mat and tie up with him.He has a hand on your elbow as is typical in an initial tie-up and then he does the apple into applesauce on your elbow to get you to go down to the mat. He was a DOMINATING NCAA Wrestler.

".....and watch out for flying chairs."

Soon after moving to Hawaii I became friends with Ono Wikiwiki. He used to rassle Danny. He had a flying drop kick. His sons were still rasslin' in North Texas.
