How far is airport from the stadium?

20-30 minutes. We are staying at the Comfort Inn in Glendale, so I researched the duration. Luckily, we don't have to leave Zona until the day after the game.

FWIW, the day after the game (Sunday, Jan 2) is going to be SUPER busy at the airport. And, turning in a rental car takes awhile. So - plan accordingly!

Oh, and last time I was there, Sky Harbor had free wifi. :)

That's why I'm flying out on the 3rd. :P

Just beware the free wifi scam that's been popping up in airports the last 3 or 4 years if you don't fly much.

Is there another reason to be at the airport?

That Monday is going to be unbelievably packed as well. Combining business travelers with holiday flyers ... Oh boy. Get there early. Especially if you plan to check something.

I use the PHX free wi-fi virtually every week and have never had any issues. Is this something new?

The drive without traffic is roughly 15-20 minutes.

If you are returning a rental car, then that will add up to another 30 minutes depending on the number of buses they have in the rotation between rental car center and the airport. The bus ride is about 10 minutes.

Also, depending on your airline, check-in and security can be anywhere from 10 minutes to an almost an hour. Southwest and US Air fly out of terminal 4 which is the largest and busiest terminal. American and Delta are in terminal 3 and you can normally get through the process there in less than 30 minutes. United flies out of terminal 2.

Terminal 4 is more modern and has more dining / drinking options. Terminal 3 has very limited choices. AA is on one side had has only two eating places and one bar past security. Before security you only have 3 options to grab a bite.

When I go to PHX on business, I work in the West Valley. I normally allow 2 hours to leave the office, turn in the car, and get past security. Of course, I'm usually going against traffic on I-10. That usually gives me an additional 30 - 45 minutes before AA starts boarding the flight.

From the last Fiesta Bowls, I would think you would need around 3 hours before your flight leaves - but that is based on a terminal 3 departure.

Some of my best memories of preparing for and/or concluding air travel involve the airport.

I wonder where you can fly to on the night of the game? I live in L.A. and can't get back home the night of the game. You pretty much need a midnight departure to leave after the game.
