If you or they play golf, there's an incredible number of courses for all skill levels all over the City. There are museums, art galleries and then there are the casinos.

Perhaps if you throw in a few details about yours/their interests, I could be more specific.

There are alot of different area's to check out the nightlife, depending on where you are and what kind of crowd you want to be around. Westgate is right next to the stadium and is fun but nothing too exciting, Shout is probably the most entertaining. Beware of Saddle ranch, it is a known horn hang out, but prob not too bad now that there season is over. Sandbar is cool and there area some others that are good in the area. Arrowhead is not too far and Salty's is one of my fav bars next to Peoria Sports complex. They have games like Cornhole and volleyball as well. Scottsdale is a more high class area and the nightlife is also more upscale Axis, *****cat lounge are the two clubs I usually end up at in Scottsdale.

For things to do during the Day, Umm Sedona is a few hour drive and is very pretty. Hiking Camelback mountain is very nice this time of year and you get a very nice view of the Phoenix are from the top. There is the Wildlife zoo that is near Luke AFB there is a new Aquarium there. If you look online there are some places where you can go on horseback tours into some of the mountains.

The drive on Arizona Hwy 89A between Sedona and Flagstaff is one of the prettiest drives I've ever driven. If you start in Sedona, you start in a valley, alongside a small river. Then you start ascending into the mountains. There's a scenic view turnoff about halfway through. That view is breathtaking and there are locals selling jewelry etc.

THEN, oh man, then! You arrive at the spiritual vortex of the whole universe in all of China!!!!!!!!

Fixed.;)

I had some good experiences in that area. My sis and her hubby used to live in Mesa and in the summer of '84 I attended John MacLeod's basketball camp up in Flagstaff. Nearly all of the kids were from the west coast and of course I was called Okie along with another poor fella who was from Missouri.:D
Whilst in art school in '93 we visited a friend at ASU and went to some Cactus League games. Nothing like checking out the babes on campus with full tans in early April.:O

So you're saying he's a filthy Scum Devil?

Yes, he played with some good ones including that QB who looked like Tom Selleck.

His best story was a teammate of his at NEO took a recruiting trip to Nebraska and was chaperoned by I.M. Hipp. He said all the guy did was lift weights and drive his shiny car around town. No class.:D

Actually, the auction isn't until February, but there is Westworld where it's held.

So, your bro-in-law kicked for ASU and also played for NEO? Shouldn't be too hard to figure out who he is, for anybody interested enough.

BTW, my dad played for NEO back in the 50s. Can't say more. Internet privacy and all that.

Love In-N-Out Burgers -- didn't realize they had expanded outside of SoCal. Wish they would expand to OK!

If you have young kids, there is a nice little amusement park off I-17 North of Downtown about 7 Miles on the West side). You could drive up to Payson (about sixty miles north, go to Fountain Hills and turn North to get there). There is a cool Air Museum in Mesa by their Airport (just off the 202). They also make Helicopters for our Military there next to their Airport, and sometimes you see them flying around the mountains on that trip up to Payson.

You could drive out to Casa Grande (not far, about an hour, or less, from Scottsdale West on Hwy 10). There are some cool ruins there (Casa Grande) that were constructed around 1300 AD, Go inside the little Museum there first to see what the whole area looked like before you walk out to see Casa Grande (The Big House) to be able to really appreciate what you are seeing. There are even some ruins from around the same time right by the Airport that has a Museum that is even free on Sundays. I highly recommend Casa Grande.

The whole network of Canals around the Phoenix area are just improved versions of those that have been there for around 7 hundred years, originally built by Native Americans.

There are number of Casinos locally, and even a Harrah's out in the town of Maricopa.

You could play Golf, but that is the height of the season, so greens fees are highest then. It's cheap to Golf here when it is 110 in July.

There are a Gazillion places to eat.

Hope this gave you some more ideas to add to those already put forth.

There are all kinds of companies that offer kick azz desert tours out here and they're very cool. Some of the tours are by jeep, some by hummer, some by desert buggies, and some on quads at night with night vision goggles. Just google desert tours and find one that appeals to you. Since you're in the valley, might as well explore the beauty of the desert. If your family doesn't enjoy that, we can't help them.

Also, take them to eat at Chino Bandidos.

I travel to PHX almost weekly on business. Here is the low down:

MUST DO

Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe - good college vibe + great, great beer and solid food. Get a kilt-lifter and just go with it from there.

Yard House / Glendale - it's in the complex next to the stadiuim. 150+ plus brews on tap and the food is above bar fare.

FOR A GOOD STEAk

Capital Grill / Biltmore shopping center. Lawrie's and others are also in the area.

Don & Charlies / Scottsdale - solid steak and one of the best baseball memorbilia collections on the planet. Yes, they have a Babe Ruth ball as well as more than 40 other hall of famers.

Interesting

Check out the Kona Grill at Scottsdale fashion mall - if the weather is good, then it's a good spot to sit on the patio

More to come.

I went on a hot air balloon ride when I was in Phoenix. If you like hiking or golf, there are a ton of places to go. Other than that, it's a lot like Dallas or Atlanta--nothing you can't do there that you can't do at home.
