So, the Demoncrats own the Presidency, U.S. Senate, and House for almost two years, and have to wait until the last minute to pass legislation (like extending the Boooosh Tax Cuts) until the last few weeks of their filibuster proof control.
What the he11 were they doing the last two years - or at least the past 11 months???
Or, was this another planned Alinskyian ploy to create a time crisis, and pass a lot of liberal legislation that no one has time to read, with 6,000 plus earmarks like the Omnibus Spending Bill???
As a result - Congressional approval rating at a historic low!!!!!
:rcmad:

I think they were all amazed Barry won and they decided to bail on him instead of support him. Also there was a bit of time spent on trying not to be blamed for the 2nd depression and figuring out how to keep their jobs. Pretty much the same thing as the Pubs.

Remember....the Historic Low includes the Pubs in office too.

What the he11 were they doing the last two years - or at least the past 11 months???

Bankrupting the country, putting millions out of work, record high # of people in poverty and on food stamps, destroying the private sector, nationalizing the health, auto, banking & loan industry, and making damn sure the dollar is worthless??

Seems like their agenda has worked just as it was supposed to work.

I think the best part is seeing two democratic presidents on stage together begging congress to extend Bush's tax cuts, or the economy will be further destroyed. After spending the better part of the last 10 years bashing them.

The best part is going to be the future demise of the Republicans as Rand Paul pushes for a Tea Party Caucus.

The three party schism has made its way into congress.

Thought nothing got done in the last 2 years....wait for the next two.

More Democrats voted to extend Dubya's tax cuts than republicans.

And it got more overall votes this time than it did in 2003 (with a GOP majority no less!)

Beautiful.

I usually don't vote Democratic (I think I've voted for a grand total of two Democrats in my life, and both were in Oklahoma so they don't really count), but if I did, I'd probably be wondering what the hell just happened. They got majorities in 2006-08, the last two Bush years, then said they couldn't get legislation going till they have fillibuster-proof and veto-proof majorities, which they achiveved in 2008... and then they ask legislators to sign bills before reading, so they could learn what they were signing after it's passed.

I know that the Republicans have not been perfect during their time in majority and presidency recently - the Contract with America was not 100 percent fulfilled, but they stayed in power for so long because American wasn't fed up enough to oust them right away, unlike the Dems.

So, was it because what the Republicans did helped the country, or what they did was more popular?

Either way, Dems can't claim either during the two (possibly four) years of most (or partial) control. Not popular, not economically sound. Ugh. I bet my hippie relatives in Oregon are just fuming. I wonder if we're on the verge of a Democratic tea party movement?

While I admire the tea party movement for taking such a strong interest in government's actions, I worry about them getting moderates kicked out, because finding common ground is important to getting stuff done (like budget cuts and deciding what taxes to charge)

But... the election process ran its course so can't complain too much

I wonder if we're on the verge of a Democratic tea party movement?I would venture to guess that between our tax structure, budget and deficit that doing what is popular without funding it is certainly the answer.

Dems are mad at the party when things are going well, being angry at the national platform is a birthright.

Two bad you libs hate the democratic (small/good "d") process.
A tug of war, and "balance of power" is what the Founders had in mind.
NOT the power monopoly that the Dems have had the last two years - and squandered!

I'm not a liberal nor a conservative. Those weasel words do little for me. I tend to think in terms or rational and irrational. A policy can be rational or irrational. A person can hold a rational or irrational positions. Terms like left, right, liberal, and conservative are weasel words made up by those in power to divide the people.

They got so much of it done, that the American people have opened their eyes as to what those jerks really want for our country, and have spoken at the polls.

BTW, how did oregon get to be such an efed-up state? They are right up there with Taxachusetts and New Pork.

BTW, how did oregon get to be such an efed-up state? They are right up there with Taxachusetts and New Pork.

My relatives will never call their beloved Oregano an efed-up state, but I have heard them complain about how Californians move north and raise property taxes. When you're between the granolas in Seattle and liberals in Cali, what do you expect?

You might also remember that the 2000 election results were disputed in the state not because of the Florida reason (Bush or Gore?) but because of something much funnier (Gore or... NADER?!?! hahahahahahahalololololol)

I love my Oregon relatives lots though and admire them for their strong political belief, even if I disagree at times.

Me on phone: Oklahoma's playing Oregon in the Holiday Bowl and it'll be my last bowl trip with the band... who are you going to cheer for?
Aunt: Oregon.
(slight pause... we both laugh)

Speaking of, I actually got a pic with that silly duck mascot at a naval base down in San Diego before the game. Someone (yes, you-know-who) thought it would be a good idea to play Grand Ole Flag for the soldiers there... mind you, these are 18-year-olds fresh outta high school, not the vets at Owen Field that know every word to that song. They just kind of stood around for that... not knowing how to act. They much preferred the weird jukebox stuff the duck band did, heh.

I hate the UO after the ref debacle of 2006, but I don't hate the state. And if the ducks do win the title game, at least Auburn won't have gotten away with the most blatant cheating to get ignored by the NCAA since Reggie Bush (well, till they finally acted on it this year)

I'll just confess my Democrat-voting sins now and get it over with:

I voted for Nancy Riley both when she was a Republican (running for lt gov) and a Democrat (as State Senator) and then voted for Jari Askins in the most recent gubernatorial election.

I greatly respected Nancy's strive for bi-partisanship in a very divided state senate (you might recall at one time, the senate was split evenly... 2006 I think?) and she was very accessible to voters.

As for Jari, I was very disappointed in what the election had turned into among voters, especially the fat/ugly jokes, but very proud that the two women managed to keep things civil. So, I'm not upset that Mary won. I just thought Jari was getting beat up unfairly by voters and had a more complete resume to be the state's head honcho, that's all.
