OU's Ryan Broyles considers NFL future

University of Oklahoma All-America receiver Ryan Broyles will file paperwork with the NFL to evaluate his status for the 2011 draft, he told the Tulsa World tonight.

Not a surprise. He needs to do his research.

well it isnt necessarily a consideration of leaving early. it is more about allowing the nfl scouts to give him an honest evaluation of his draft stock.

If he isn't considered 1st round he will stay. there are three or four wrs in this class that could go higher than broyles. that pretty much makes him a second rounder since the nfl rarely goes after wrs in the 1st round.

Decent receiver in pro's and a great return man. Return guys don't go 1st round. Come back and win a NC for Sam, Gerald and the rest of the 08' team.

Unfortunately the NFL evaluation just gives grades and doesn't tell you where you might end up. I mean he may grade as an A but will still be behind a few other receivers. This year's WR draft will be very good.

I think you have to have at least one DWI to raise your stock.

I bet he still comes back. You have a good shot at making a run to the NC next year. Don't know what the schedule looks like or who returns exactly in the trenches but the skill postition talent looks to be really good

You think he comes back because he looks really good? Is that what you are saying? Really?

CowboyMRW

I never said anything about him looking good exactly in my post. But I think he comes back because I'm convinced that there will be a lockout next year which means he wouldn't get paid

Does the evaluation also include the evaluation of the ramifications of an NFL lockout?

He'd go 2nd round.

It seems that even that is a big risk. Receivers are a dime a dozen unless you are an absolute freak. Only 2 were selected in the 1st round last year and they were both freaks. I don't think that JB would go in the 1st or even 2nd right now and he has the body that scouts love. He's big and can run. It all boils down to what needs teams need. AJ and Julio are going to be the first ones off the board whenever they come out. Then Broyles/Blackmon in whichever order you want. There are only a couple of teams that really need another receiver more than another position right now

Several other Sooners will file for evaluation just the same as Ryan.

Its a smart move, but at this juncture, means nothing.......

Any NFL lockout will be resolved within the first couple weeks of the season. The players simply cannot afford to not get a deal done.

He'd go 2nd round.

The same round that MK went when he left early... coincidence??? Hmm... :D

(not knocking MK or RB... but neither should/should've leave/left after his junior year)

FRANKS EXPECTED TO BE DRAFTED IN 2ND ROUNDhttp://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/rap_sheet/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/dominique-franks-ap.jpg

FRANKS SELECTED IN 5TH ROUND BY FALCONS

Sadly, I think that if all of these declare, they'd be picked in this order...

Jeff Fuller – aTm – 6’ 4” – 215
AJ Green – Georgia – 6’ 5” 205
Justin Blackmon - OSU – 6’ 1” 205
Ryan Broyles – 5’ 11” – 183

I have the feeling that Broyles will end up like Welker. He doesn't have the elite speed or the elite size. He just gets open and he has incredible hands.

But the one time he faced a really quality db (Amukamara, NE) he got shut down to only 1 catch didn't he (just remember the one bomb)?

He had some short catches too. Ryan will actually do better with the NFL rules on illegal contact. The college DBs are allowed more pushing and shoving.

blackmon's a sophomore.

broyles will stay. there will be a play stoppage when the player's assn. and the league fail to agree to a contract.

Yes he is. And as a redshirt sophomore, he is eligible to declare for the draft.

I though Alshlon was a Junior. This receiving class is sick nasty.

AJ, Julio, Blackmon, Broyles, Fuller, Jeffries. I'm sure I'm missing some. Maybe Pilares?

Thanks Wide! Blackmon can declare if he wants and I'm pretty sure he'd be picked above Ryan but I think if Weeden says, he will. Plus I think it would help fine tune his game a little if he did. Although if Weeden, Blackmon, the O-line, and anyone else wants to leave OSU's team I won't be mad at them. :D

Baldwin at Pitt, Floyd at ND, Hankerson at Miami, , Posey at tOSU, Pettis at BSU to name a few more that I've see projected pretty high. This WR class is one of the best I've seen in a LONG time.

Blackmon isn't a very polished WR yet...has a lot of raw ability, but his route running is not very good(rounds off too much)...
