ESPN just mentioned in passing an idea that I find intriguing. They reporter said, "What does the Metrodome roof collapse mean concerning a possible NFL team in Los Angeles?" Now I don't see it happening, but I wonder what Zigi and the boys will do if L.A. offers to build them an expensive stadium and other promises. I wonder how intrigued Zigi would be at the idea.

We'd have to change the name.

The Tulsa Pony Boys?

Fighting Biker Foxes?

The OTHER Shock with the same amount of penis?

Forget anything NFL going to Tulsa.
And I think the Chargers are more likely than the Vikings to go to LA.

Tulsa Kings....just drop the Vi.

A team of kings does not sound like an efficient team

I think the only two teams that could make a move to L.A. are the Vikes or the Sam's Rams

Quit walking on my Dreams. If we build it....they will come. :D

The Vikes to LA rumor has been going on forever, or at least since 1996. If the owner is serious I think you'll see some stunts like Bud Adams pulled on with Houston over the condition of the Astrodome to force their had or move.

Ziggy wants to stay in MN. He needs a stadium. He'd consider CA if they build him a stadiium, but that's not likely and as of about a year ago, he wasn't expecting it. In fact, even if they build a stadium, there's a chance -- perhaps a better chance -- that Jacksonville or even the Bills make it to LA before the Vikings.

Interestingly enough, this was announced today.

The traffic and parking in that area are already terrible though, I just don't see how this would work.

i guess i'm not that bright, but i don't understand what is wrong with the Rose Bowl or the Coliseum

actually, i do know what's wrong with Pasadena. traffic is a nightmare there on gamedays. at least when i was there, and the place was like half full

No Suites.

If they don't have something on par with JerryWorld or the Meadowlands, the NFL won't go back to LA.

^^^This^^^

In the NFL it's not just about how many people you can put in a stadium, it's how much of that revenue goes to the individual owner. Generally, income is shared among owners but some specific things like revenue from suites is kept by the individual team.

So they aren't just looking for a field for a team to play on, they are looking for a situation that allows the owner to keep as much of his team's revenue as possible. That at least is my understanding...

Love how the people sitting behind the bench are 30 years behind the bench.

Well, if the Vikings did go, half the state of Minnesota would have their heads explode. They are still sitting gingerly from the butt-hurt of losing the Lakers to LA two generations ago. (Norvegians, ya see, they got the long memories, don't cha know?).
But I don't see this happening. In case anyone missed the briefing: CALIFORNIA HAS NO MONEY. None. As in, 'not two nickles to rub together'. Without public money, this will not happen. And I don't see a bunch of contractors lining up to build a multi-billion dollar stadium in exchange for vouchers, primo parking permits and good thoughts from the state and city.
The Viking facilities are not that bad. Reroof the dome and they're good to go for another 20 years.
Who owns them now? The Pollad family? They're from the cities and for some reason, there is fierce loyalty to the area from locals. (It is magnificent between June 1 and June 23rd and from Sept.9th to October 14th, inclusive. The other seasons are known as 'Winter' and 'Blackfly/Mosquito').

Tulsa is too busy working on the preparations for the Olympics to focus on the NFL.

it's stupid for LA to not have a team.

well, one day we might fall to the Cotton Bowl again

and i'd imagine there will be a conference championship game again at some point

freezing at Arrowhead is better than going there though
