Even without clicking your link, the biggest ripoffs in all of college football are in order - Mack at Texas at about $5 mil, Kirk Firentz at Iowa at about $3 or $4 mil, and Urban Meyer at Florida at about $4 mil. They just didn't produce this season. Say what you want about their previous records, but they let their fanbases down a lot this year. Universities pay for expected results in the future, not what coaches have already done.

EDIT: I was close. Kirk makes $3,775,000, Urbie makes $4,010,000 and Mack Daddy makes $5,100,000. Each program had five losses this year...and Mack gave his program two more losses on top of that as a bonus. Uggggh.

Kirk makes a habit of doing just well enough in contract years to get a raise.

I can't believe some of the people making more than Mike Stoops. Coaches at less prestigious school who are underachieving make more than him.

There were some good deals too, approx $100,00 per win coaches - Navy, Army, Baylor, Boise, FAU, Miami OH, Midd Tenn, San Diego St, Troy, etc.

But give it up to Nevada, approx $50K per win...

And, Rutgers got the shaft too...

LOL jdd. Yeah, Im sure the texas fans are loving that new contract with Mack. Peterson from Boise only at 1.5... Wonder if a bcs school threw 2.5-3 mil his way, what would happen.

Grobe had his worst year this year (and unfortunately, it may not be getting any better) and has been in a steady decline since the OB year...though he won 11, 9, and 8 games in consecutive years at Wake, which is unheard of. His teams have brought in a lot of extra cash flow as well and allowed for some long overdue renovations to the football facilities.

However, the football team this year was as bad as it was some of those years under Jim Caldwell, and the basketball team is perhaps the worst it has ever been. Two major revenue sports are bound to take a beating due to fan apathy the next few years. The money will dry up. I suspect Grobe will retire while he's still young and can enjoy it. He's already a legend at Wake. Quit while the quitting is good because people are already calling for his head on a plate. Success breeds contempt...

Mike Stoops isn't exactly killing it at Zona. They went 4-5 in the terrible Pac 10 this year.

Point taken. But to get paid less that coaches at Duke, Kansas, Wake Forest, etc. sucks.

There's a rumor floating around that Ferentz is going to be stepping down after all of Iowa's off the field problems.

Yeah, no way turner gil should be making that kind of money... At least Mike Stoops has put Az in some bowl games.. Until Gil does this, I dont think he deserves half of that.

I can't believe Mike Gundy makes nearly the same Steve Spurrier, Frank Beamer and Gene Chizik. It's not like he would ever leave even if you paid him less than half that much.

Iowa should hire Mike Stoops. I think he would win there. Winning at Arizona is an uphill battle. Iowa isn't a football powerhouse, but it is a lot better place than Arizona.

Bob Stoops makes in two weeks what the Kent State guy makes in a year.

I think it's amazing that after all the crappy teams and overhype that he's put them through, it's drugs that might get him canned.

If you had to perform the "Personal Services" portion to Boone to fulfill the contract you would want that much money as well.

June Jones at SMU makes more than Steve Spurrier at South Carolina?

Chiznit should be up for a raise...perhaps by a donor.
