Apparently crap is hitting the fan in Iowa.

http://www.examiner.com/iowa-hawkeyes-in-des-moines/iowa-football-hampton-to-transfer-robinson-out-for-bowl-game

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/542501-iowa-football-drug-scandal-latest-on-possible-hawkeyes-fallout/entry/34409-iowa-football-scandal-more-info-on-possessed-drugs

Apparently they are saying that Kirk Ferentz will resign in his press conference tomorrow. But that's only on message boards. Take it for what it's worth.

This scenario scares me more than anything else. IMO, Iowa is the only place Bob would go if he didn't retire at OU.

Why do so many people assume that every coach's dream is to be the head coach at his alma mater? Unless your alma mater happens to be Michigan, USC, OU, Texas, or Alabama. Or you know your limitations. *cough* [hairGel] *cough*

Right, because the only logical conclusion to be drawn from two Iowa players transferring is that Bob Stoops is resigning at OU to become coach at Iowa.

Just because he played there. Bob isn't leaving Oklahoma to go to a downward Iowa program. Maybe Mark would go.

Why? He spent 4 years in Iowa and 11 in OU. OU is the better job to boot.

He's not going to Iowa.

"Police said they found cocaine, small quantities of marijuana and pamoate, diazepam, hydromorphone hydrochloride and zolpidem tartrate pills in Johnson-Koulianos’ bedroom. Pamoate is one of the two formations of hydroxyzine, an antihistamine used to treat mild anxiety, insomnia, motion-sickness, itching and allergies and is known as an effective sedative and tranquilizer. Diazepam is used to treat anxiety, insomnia and seizures. Hydromorphone hydrochloride is a narcotic analgesic which Johnson-Koulianos allegedly told officers he takes to help with pain, according to police. Zolpidem tartrate is used to treat insomnia."

You know you're getting old when drugs listed in a police report have to explained to you.

I don't understand this. Didn't Stoops already turned down an opportunity to go back to Iowa? I seem to recall that when Fry stepped down, Stoops of course wanted the job, but they slow-played him while Joe C. was in 100%. Once Iowa saw that Stoops was closing in on a deal with OU, they came back and tried to pitch him on the job but he told them to talk to the hand at that point. I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered some discussion of that. Then once they hired Ferentz, the Hawk faithful were livid that they had not gone full press on Stoops from the get-go.

Anyway, I really don't see Stoops going to Iowa. I don't see him taking any other college job, at all. He may get the itch for the NFL, but not to switch college jobs.

silverwheels
12/13/2010, 10:24 PM
I don't even see Stoops going to the NFL. If he hates the Oklahoma media, he's not going to want to deal with the media in a larger market.
