I heard on the radio that he will coach the FB & TE positions. Is this so he can get the BCS monkey off his back? Is it possibly bonus related?

Mike Stoops said that he regretted not staying for the bowl game before he left for Arizona. I was hoping that Kevin would stay.

you would think he would have his butt up in Indiana recruiting and trying to put his staff together. Of course, he may already have that done, but doubtful.

If I'm IU, then I wondering what the heck?

He's most likely staying on to support Heupel in his new duties while relinquishing enough responsibility in preparations to assemble his staff would be my guess.

That's the only possible benefit I can think of, too. Training wheels for Heupel? When coaches stick around for a lame duck bowl game, it usually doesn't turn out very well. I hope he really is in the background for this one.

Did you mean lame duck coach for the bowl game? (not lame duck bowl game)

I suspect KW is spending far more time at his new job than bowl prep. There is probably not much to do between Christmas and New Year's at his new job since most people are with their families. So why not be with his old team for the last game.

I heard Dean say on the radio that he thinks Bob wants him there as a safety net. If Josh needs a sounding board he will be there.

I agree with Dean that this is how bad Bob wants to end their BCS woes. They don't want to throw off their mojo. Maybe Wilson will even brainstorm with Heupel on a script for the first 15 plays. I'm still wondering if Wilson gets a bonus for "coaching" in the game. This may have more to do with it than anything.

Exactly. The usage was intended to be similar to a "lame duck session of Congress," meaning that those conducting it are lame ducks rather than the event itself. If he's really just filling in as a position coach, then it's no big deal; the distractions of his new job won't have much impact on us.

He has been the tight end and fullbacks coach since 2006 anyway so that part won't be any different. I would guess he wants to finish what he started at least he seems like that kinda guy to me.

Personally I appreciate that he is going to be there. Continuity is a good thing especially with all the young players we have playing.

I don't know if that's a good idea for him; but obviously if he's agreed to it then he feels like he can handle it pretty well.
From a Sooner point of view this is great, as it will help with a smooth transition.

I just hope we can replace Coach Wilsons tutelage on fullbacks and tight ends.

If you were IU, you'd also be thinking "Papers are signed. Too late to matter."

He's only sticking around to recruit our other coaches away.

Hell, we only scored 23 against Nebraska and were terrible in the red zone. I see no problem if he goes early. best of luck to him either way. Josh couldn't be that much of a drop off IMHO.
