His mug is too famous already. (Spence Tillman) I like him having the national exposure, anyway. Great representative.

For some reason, Mike Ziegenhorn (ex-KTUL) jumps to mind. He's out of the market now, but still in Tulsa. I imagine guys from the OKC area have a natural advantage.

I'm thinking it will be someone completely out of left field. I truly doubt it will be anyone currently in Oklahoma sports radio or tv. Spencer is extremely happy where he is and JR's Bells Palsy keeps him from doing anything long term.

JR would be really funny. Beating Texas like a government mule...

Mark Rodgers is a freakin' arrogant tool. He's Jim Traber without having ever chased a japanese pitcher.

I like Rowland. Carpenter doesn't get worked up enough for me.

He's doing the Union Redskins radio... obviously OU would be far better; it just depends on if he took the Union job as more of a "this'll be fun for a few more years before I hang it all up."

I'm thinking it'll be someone promoted already on the broadcast group.

Do you really like Mark Rogers? I think he has been fired from OU once already.

I like that he's a huge OU homer on the Sports Animal, and I like that he tells people how it really is, but he does have a holier than thou attitude sometimes.

I had forgotten he used to do Toby Rowland's job (I think, or at least he was on the sidelines for something.)

No matter who it is, I hope they take off the slow pokes play by play guy and only get excited when something big happens for OU. Poor old BBS would get all jacked up no matter who was scoring, so I was always confused as to if I should be ecstatic or super pissed.

I couldn't believe it when I still saw a lot of old farts glued to their headsets when I went to the OU-AF game. I mean, seriously, it's 100 degrees, 100% humidity, and you're listening to Bob Butcher play-by-play ON PURPOSE? And these were guys sitting on the lower section on the 45 yard line, not people in the nose bleed section in the corner.

No to JR. Suffice to say, he is not my favorite person. Hate even seeing him on the sidelines. Don't like him representing OU.

Yes to the NFL announcer guy, or the guy that does the "Heres to you..." beer commercials (if it isn't the same guy).

I think it will be Bob Carpenter though, which is good too.

I was at that game with an earbud in listening to Bob and he didn't butcher any more than any other play by play guy does. I was able to follow what was going on quite well and was shocked at how quickly with the action I was watching, he was calling it.

Since you are castigating those with headsets, I am assuming you didn't actually listen. So not sure how you can say he butchered it.

Oh I get it, it's the meme. It doesn't have to be true, just say it enough and it becomes true.

And yes it was very hot, but worth it.

Jim Ross has never been a play by play guy at any real level of sports. Not even at Atlanta. He was a color announcer there. He's got no experience as a PBP announcer in football.

Remember when the realignment stuff was going on and Dick Ebersol came to meet with Boren and Joe C.

There was a bizarre tweet or quote from Jim Nantz saying something to the effect of "Looking forward to calling OU games in the future" or something like that.

This is, of course, all wild speculation. Would you be happy with him?

Tulsa SportsAnimal (am 1500) carries Mizzou Football and I had the opportunity to hear this guy a couple of times this year. He's not bad. Their color guy sounds just like Mike Shannon who calls St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
