"Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops shot down rumors Saturday that he was close to signing a contract with Florida.

GatorCountry.com, a website that covers Florida athletics, reported earlier Saturday that Stoops was “finalizing a contract to become Florida’s next coach.”

When the Tulsa World contacted Stoops via text, asking him to respond to the report, he replied in a text: “Not true, whatsoever.

“I’m out recruiting as we text.”

He lied about Kevin Wilson going to Indiana. He could end all the speculation, but I think he's trying to get another raise from OU.

Stoops did not lie! At the time he was asked, Wilson had not only not interviewed with Indiana as reported, but Indiana had not even officially asked OU for permission to speak with him. Now, were there talks with Wilson's agent already? Most likely, as Indiana was quick to ask after the game and Wilson did officially interview that Monday. Bob Stoops should not have to give an official press conference every time some booster wants to look important by leaking his name for a job. Yes, there was already one scheduled yesterday that he -and all other coaches- did not attend but maybe he wanted to players to be the focus instead of his status and the search for an OC.
