View Full Version : If Stoops leaves who would you want?

Soonermagik

I know, I know, he's not leaving. I have a better chance of winning the lottery and being hit by a car on the same day. :P

But, if it did happen who would you want?

Gary Patterson
Chris Peterson
Chip Kelly
Pete Carroll (If he fails in the nfl)
Bobby Petrino

Any other names?

BoomerJack

Barry Switzer. Seriously.... Barry Switzer.

Now, out of the group you listed, I would pick Gary Patterson.

Venables.

^^^THIS!

I have bagged on this guy as much as anyone, but I think his hands might be tied a little when changes to the defense are in order. I know Bob make the final call on everything, but since he is a defensive guy he might put in more input on the d? I think BV will shine when giving the chance!

Patterson would be my second choice, because he has done pretty well with the leftovers left by OU and *saxet*!

I would say Mangino, but not sure we can afford to feed him

All of those guys did an excellent job of doing more with less. Just imagine if they were at OU, they could do more with more.

:P I think not. Though He is a righteous dude, they played no football during his time, so he knows little about the game. Jesus would look great on the sidelines, but as a head coach.......not so much I think.

In no particular order:

Brother Mike

Muschamp / a dagger to *

Meyer / Theory: Bob retires within 3-5 years after winning back to back MNC's. Urban will be restless and looking for a new job. It might just happen.

Saban / Doubt we could get him out of Bama, but wishfull thinking

Harbough / Not sure about his texas recruiting ties

1) The King
2) Bill Cowher
3) Saban
4) Leach
5) Norm Chow
6) Oscar Meier -- though I dunno if I want a coach who quits every 11 months.

Anyone who suggests they want Miles makes me want to gouge out my own eyes -- are you not paying attention? All he has done at LSU is manage to not upset the recruiting apple cart set up by Saban. The fans hate him because he is one-lucky-horseshoe-up-the-*** away from being, like, a .600 coach. Do you really want a coach whose major accomplishment the past few years has been that every time something happens which involves pure luck, he's got a 9 in 10 chance of coming out on the winning side?

He routinely butchers clock management and other aspects of the game the coach is directly responsible for -- yet somehow pulls out the win by, say, direct snapping to a cheerleader and having her throw the ball backward over her shoulder to the mascot, who was somehow declared as an eligible receiver before the play, for a touchdown. On fourth and 37, from his own 2 yard line.

The moment his luck runs out, his *** is grass down here. Once his luck runs out, how stupid would we have to be to hire him?

Then be prepared to pay $7mil+.....;)

It was just reported in the Tuscaloosa News today that Nick became college football's highest paid coach this year--His total compensation for '10, including incentives, was $6,087,000.00. Even in the NFL, that would be good enough for no less than 4th highest paid in the whole league.

http://www.tidesports.com/article/20101209/NEWS/101209646/1011?p=1&tc=pg

Pretty sure that Norm Chow would never be a serious candidate--his stock has really gone down, if you ask me, and I also heard he doesn't have much of a passion for recruiting.

Would prefer 1 Saban (Bama) 2 Harbaugh (Stanford) but both are extremely unlikely. Of those that are 1 Mike Stoops (Zona) 2 Briles (Houston) 3 BV (current OU assistant). I think BV could be a fine HC but I prefer someone who has run an entire football program for a couple of years.

This again....Jesus....

I actually think Jesus would be great on the sidelines. Can you imagine the sense of calm he could bring during a timeout before a 4th and short?

Think of how could could handle officials during the game....

Reporters during the press conference; answering their questions with parables...

Awesome!
