Counting Down to ‘Parks and Recreation’: The Swanson Pyramid of Greatness (http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/12/09/counting-down-to-parks-and-recreation-the-swanson-pyramid-of-greatness/)

On the seventh night of Hanukkah, the minus-17th day of Christmas or, simply, Wednesday, NBC sent us a promotional kit reminding us of the long-awaited return of “Parks and Recreation” (http://www.nbc.com/parks-and-recreation/) in September along with its other fall debuts January. Included in the package, with a DVD containing new episodes of that workplace sitcom, was what we’re pretty sure is the first-ever poster celebrating the virtues and lifestyle of Ron Swanson, the stolid yet strangely magnetic bureaucrat played by Nick Offerman.

We don’t want to spoil the specifics of how the poster is used in the season premiere on Jan. 20, but you can click here (http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2010/12/09/arts/pyramid/pyramid-jumbo.jpg) to see the poster in its entirety; follow its advice and you too may be transformed from a boy to a man, from a man to a gladiator, and from a gladiator into a Swanson. (We assume its lessons apply to women as well.)
