Bob could have been in FL before Meyer. He didn't want it then and doesn't want it now. Why go to any SEC school and have to fight that fight? It won't happen. If he has a dominant team here chances are they run the table and play for a title. In that conference there are 5 teams that can beat anyboday at any time. AL, AR, LSU, FL, ALLbarn. F that!

"I fully grasp the sacrifices my 24/7 profession has demanded of me, and I know it is time to put my focus on my family and life away from the field," Meyer said.

"I will profoundly miss coming to campus every day to coach this team, but I will always be a Gator at heart," he said.

The only thing missing is pimping out his family's reactions & quotes to make it a repeat of last year. What an ***!

Last year really made me realize he wasn't thinking things through. In his press conference, when he decided he wasn't really retiring, but just...taking a leave of absence, a reporter asked when he told his family about that decision.

"Right before I got on the bus to come to the press conference."

Didn't think it was very good to do his family that way, especially when he was using them as an excuse to quit in the first place.

I don't know if I agree. We got lucky enough to play for a national title twice after having a loss but the way it has been working the last few years, if the SEC team has an equal record they're going to go. If we go undefeated we better hope that we're not battling an undefeated SEC team for the second spot in the title game. Same if we lose one game.

The media outrage over us getting in before Auburn in 2004 just shows my point. That would never happen again because the almighty SEC deserves every benefit of the doubt.

I dont think Stoops has looked HARD at a job in a very long time. The Browns and when Spurrier left.

Forde's comments the whole interview are just rubbing me the wrong way. Saying Meyer is at the top of his profession with Saban and maybe Mack Brown.

And when they talk about Stoops, they never mention what a good thing he has at Oklahoma. Its always why wouldn't coach X want to be at Florida?

Soonermagik
12/8/2010, 04:00 PM
Stoops would be one of their top choices. He won a title with them under Spurrier. However, he has turned them down so many times they might be reluctant to try again.

If I were Florida, I would look at Chip Kelley, Chirs Peterson or Gary Patterson. All 3 would be solid choices.

makes sense to me that this would happen, however, I have to believe that the fanbase would want a proven head coach like a Stoops or Patterson, etc rather than one who has 2 years HC experience. from all reports in the offseason with the "all-world" class they got last year, egos are rampant, meyer wasn't the only problem. all this aside, i don't believe stoops goes and would fully expect mullen to go if offered.

At five losses and a salary of over $4 mil annual, Urbie would have been the most overpaid head coach in all of college football.

That is, if it weren't for Mack Brown, whose over $5 million annual salary means that he earned about $1 million for every victory his program had this year.

1) Why aren't thy going after Frank Beamer? Since he's about as good a head coach as Stoops anyway, according to the article posted earlier...oh that's right, because in reality, he's one of the top coaches in College FB! Dumbasses

2) Florida is going to start looking like a desperate ex girlfriend with a never-ending crush if they keep this up every year. It's becoming pathetic. I will have to find an appropriate picture to post here to allegorize this thing.

I'm with you. He has no reason to ever leave OU for any other college, except maybe for climate/beach reasons. And let's face it, Mr Stoops can now afford a private jet to fly him to the Gulf Coast whenever he sees fit.

Someone as competitive as Bob Stoops, I suspect, would feel some compulsion to "prove himself" at the "highest level," but I think he will resist the NFL because he's got it so good where he is. And because other than proving himself, I think the NFL just doesn't have much charm for Stoops -- family man, close to his players, dedicated to developing his players.

He doesn't need to coach multi-millionaires who care little for anyone other than themselves, and he damn sure doesn't want to deal with owners like Little Danny Snyder and Jerry Jones.

If we go undefeated we better hope that we're not battling an undefeated SEC team for the second spot in the title game. Same if we lose one game.

The media outrage over us getting in before Auburn in 2004 just shows my point. That would never happen again because the almighty SEC deserves every benefit of the doubt.

"If we go undefeated we better hope that we're not battling an undefeated SEC team for the second spot in the title game."

That just seems like a highly unlikely scenario. There can not be two undefeated SEC teams, and if "the system" judges the SEC as so superior, one would figure that an undefeated SEC team would have the first spot in the title game. That would mean we would be battling (most likely) a Big 10 or Pac 12 team for the second slot.

I'll take our chances with those guys, by the way.

And frankly, the SEC has earned their way, so props to them.

Talk radio is in INSANE here...as you could imagine. Every freaking name in the book is being thrown about. Scot Brantley was on the radio yesterday (Scot works for Gator Radio Network, huge alum, knows Bob quite well) the two names he threw out was Jon Gruden and Bob Stoops. Gruden just because of the proximity and Bob because Bob's name always comes up with the Florida job.
Of course, Scot said, "I don't think we can get Bob, he is making a TON of money at OU and he has build a pretty damned good thing there" ... of course, he then went on to lament Mrs. Stoops love of Florida and "if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy"

I see two people at the top of Foley's list...Peterson and Mullen. If I were a bettin man, I would say Mullen...he was Urbie's right hand man for years...and he is stuck @ Miss St for the love of GAWD.

I'm going w/ this one too! Unless for some reason he has some hatred of UF from his days at Georgia.

If not Muschamp, then it's Mullen.

BOOM! I'm on a roll here! First Calling the Heisman back in August and then this! I think I'm officially taking over for Jlew on the predictions! :D:texan:
