that's what happens when you allow livestock into the classroom.

What are they basing the rankings on exactly?
Glad sheep humpers are tier 3 in anything.

I hate to do this but that article was from March. If you click on OSU it shows that they are now Teir I ranked 132. To make it worse we are now ranked 111, not to far ahead of them.

Worse than Arkansas... ouch...

Well, if it'll make 'em feel any better, their Bowl SWAG bags are MUCH better than OUrs... :(

Not sure why you say that. They've had years to be used to it. Their ranking in the 3rd tier has been the same since as long as I've been paying attention (which goes back far enough to remember when OU was T3 before Boren came on board).

I've never taken those rankings too seriously as they are more popularity contests than anything. For example, U of Miami took an immediate jump as soon as Donna Shalala became President just because of her name recognition, not because their academics suddenly got better. Another stupid example is acceptance rate. OU's rank dropped because their overall acceptance rate rose above 90%. Why isn't it based on actual acceptance criteria instead of rate? Why should any school, especially a publicly funded one, be punished because they actually accepted qualifying students?

Also, they revised the number of schools ranked and now their is no Tier 3 just Tier 1 and 2 with Tier 1 now including top 75% instead of 50%.

What OSU really lacks are what make universities different from colleges -solid, major degree programs. OSU's Medical Center in Tulsa nearly closed (http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?subjectid=17&articleid=20091217_17_A13_TheOSU424361&archive=yes) till people petitioned and begged for it to stay open. They have no law school. They have no major research areas like we have out near LNC and in OKC. I know they are masters of the veterinary sciences, but beware- Mrs. Pickens thinks you're barbaric. I'm gonna take a wild stab here and guess that he has not been married to that woman for over 50 years, or she has had about 50 face lifts.

She looks 35 years younger than that rich old coot, easily.

The rankings are mostly crap anyway. OU and OSU, as public universities that accept most applicants are judged on that rate moreso than the actual classroom experience. They're being compared to private schools with many elite applicants.

So the schools are now about 20 slots apart in the rankings, and that means very little. I mean, you'll find departments at both schools that blow the doors off their counterpart. In general, it's meaningless except when you get to areas of strength.

I've always thought academic smack was stupid, anyway. Really, do we have to engage in it?

Fact: Madeline is Boone's fourth wife and OSU is his second college. How long before the T-Bone trades OSU in for a newer model?

im in grad school at TCU and Ive got classmates from UT, A&M, as well as some other out of state schools, public and private. I can honestly say that from an intelligence or learning standpoint, Ive never felt disadvantaged by being an OU grad despite being ranked far lower than UT or any other school. seeing one classmate of mine who graduated from UT makes me think alot less about UT's business school since he was able to graduate. the kid's a dunce. regardless I would put my education and work up against anyone else in my program.

if you put work in at school, regardless of what school it is, you can learn plenty.

that said, OSU still sucks. :D

What is surprising is not that 3 Big 12 land grant (basically aggie schools) are Tier 3, but that A&M is so high. Must be all that $$$$ down in tejas.

A&M's endowment is huge, that probably has a lot to do with it.

Fact is, OSU grads don't usually sound stupid unless they start talking about football.

Then they sound retarded.
