- Gene Chizik won the Broyles Award in 2004 while at Auburn.

- Gene Chizik was an assistant under Mack Brown from 2005-2006 coaching alongside 2005 Broyles Award winner and now resignee Greg Davis en route to an undefeated national championship.

- Gene Chizik in 2004 and 2005 has recorded back-to-back undefeated seasons (26-0) as a Broyles Award winner and working alongside a Broyles Award winner.

- 2006 Mack Brown at Texas has 2 assistants who are Broyles Award winners.

- 2010 Auburn at 13-0 is coached by Gene Chizik and now has the newly awarded Broyles Award winner Gus Malzahn.

- Gene Chizik is currently 1 win away from a unanimous national championship where just two years ago he was hired away from Iowa State with an astonishing (5-19) record.


These facts basically are irrelevant to the Sooner Nation but they are interesting to think about. The man just might be the most interesting man in the world along with the Dos Equis man.

And he drove Iowa State into the ground...and got hired after posting SUCH a stellar record up there...

He probably wont ever return to Ames after he promised all the ISU faithful and school he was commited to building ISU football to be the best. Then a few short hours later, the story broke how he had accepted the HC job at AU....
