would you like our offense to go in? Just wondering where the consensus is.

Are yall happy with the direction of the offense? the overall strategy? 60 passes per game? relatively weak running game?

would yall rather have an offense more of the alabama wisconson stanford statego?

either way i hope we hire someone that does it right.

if its choice A i want leach no doubt. if choice B idk who the options are

Towards the end zone.

Seriously, I like what Wilson has done except for the RZ scoring the last couple or 3 seasons.

I'd like to see an offense that has opposing DCs saying "WTF was that?" as the ball crosses the goal line.

Personally, I like more of a pro style offense. The lack of strong running game is really killing us against the better defenses we face--in the red zone at least. But I assume the offense we have now is the direction Stoops wants. Who can argue against it when it's running in high gear and working? No one. But for my tastes it's a little too finesse.

Lol...I dont call 1800 yards of rushing weak....Not too mention when you run a 100 plays a game your going to throw it a bunch.....

I like what is effective and as soonerinkaty said, showcases the strength of our athletes. I'll take the pass-first approach that trades-off a great running game. But I totally believe we can be stronger at running than we are now w/o changing the basic approach. These things go in waves and coaches have to be flexible and I wonder if our hurry-up is getting stale. But I definitely favor lots of points vs. defense and field position from a pure entertainment point of view.

1800 yards isn't the problem. The threat of running goes bye bye when we get to the 10 yard line. Is our lack of run game inside the 10 due to our "strong" running game?

Have only seen them play one game, but I liked what I saw of Troy U's offense last week. Fast pace, passing QB and effective (explosive) run game.

Granted, competition wasn't as good, but looked pretty impressive.

A couple coaches that are under the radar that I really liked this year were the East Carolina OC and the Kentucky OC. I just like what they do on offense. I think Kentucky does relatively well for playing in such a strong conference and not having the same type athletes

We run some pro sets. We actually did it more in 08 when we had a better line though. KW did the best he could, he always focuses on the offense being balanced but if it aint broke don't fix it. I'm sure we obviously have a gameplan when we come into games but we take what the opposing defense gives us.

Tell that to Urban Meyer...or Mack Brown. Or their respective OC's. In the case of Davis, I think the order came from above, and he paid the price.

In the early Stoops years, we had very imaginative routes, we threw the ball all over the field, and yet Q nearly broke Billy Sims' yardage record, proving you can still have a potent running game with a spread offense.

Bring back the quick-kick....game changer when you're backed up on your goal line and it's third and long. Lil' Joe is around to instruct one of our backs to master it.

Best way to do that is play teams that don't have extremely good defenses in games that don't really matter. Seriously, Nebraska's defense is good.

We are too finesse. It works well when we outmatch our opponents, but when we get into physical games we tend to suffer quite a bit.

I would like some more power running game and more traditional routes. The 100+ plays a game hurts our defense as well.

Maybe throw in a bit of option when we get a more mobile QB.

Wilson had to be more finesse and throw the ball 50 times a game. OU's OLine isn't quite there w/ the run blocking. The last 3 or 4 games (not sure about Baylor game) the offense avg less than 3 yards a carry. Son until OU starts run blocking we will probably see the same thing from the next OC. Those little bubble screens that everyone hated were thrown so often to get people in space where they could excel. I didn't hate them because they usually worked.

This. He squirts right through. When he has trouble is running to the edge and turning up field.

We will need one or the other next year.

Finch didn't squirt through very often and when he got hit, he went backwards due to the size mismatch. But that just saying what we already know - there weren't many holes to run through. Also, Finch is not very patient yet. Finch will be fine and can run between the tackles; we need to improve run blocking for all the backs. I actually thought Clay looked more ready than Finch and more patient with the play developing from what little we saw of him. But he was not used much after the concussion in the FSU game. Jonathan Miller looked very promising at the end of '09 before he got hurt and is supposed to be 100% next year. We will have lots of talent at RB next year - I'm just hoping for better blocking.

I know I may get flamed for this but you can't overlook the production of his offense. Is there any way we steal the ok-state off. coord.? Can't recall his name right off hand. I mean, we steal recruits already. They were productive in both run and pass and moved the ball on defenses we had trouble with. Just throwing it out there. If OU hires within, I'll be just as happy.

Evolution not revolution. We have too many great athletes to do a major overhaul and risk taking an entire season to get it done. Try to shore up the weak areas w/o damaging what's working. It's not like we are bad on offense.

I totally agree. ^ I'm gonna miss Wilson but not the run up the middle for no gain out of a timeout or some of the other wasted plays. When he was diverse, he was great. When he forgot we are not a power running team, he was terrible. Fortunately, he was more often great for us. I hope he owns the Big 10 soon.

We have to look at what type of players we can consistently recruit. Do we consistently get the 6'5" 220# WR that excels at running downfield and catching jump balls? No. We consistently get guys that are great at getting separation and running after the catch.

Do we get the big bruiser RBs that Wisconsin lives on? No, we get 200# slasher types and 190# scat back types. Can we recruit great OL that push people around? No, we get great OL that create seams and and pass block very well.

This all leads me to one conclusion: run exactly what we've been running. Get great football players that can do lots of things pretty damn well rather than specialists, then run a fast break offense that gets the D to commit to a personnel grouping and then kills them with matchup problems.

You want to put a nickle package out there since we have Hanna in the slot with three WRs and no FB? Well, good job holding us to two yards there. Now we're in the I and our big WR is playing FB so we can run a stretch play to take advantage of your third best corner who is terrible at run support.

Surprise! It's PA, and we still have 4 of our 5 best receiving threats on the field. Good luck.

I have often thought he is the best OC out there, or close to it and would benefit greatly from OU's skill talent. Still worried about our O-Line next year. Hopefully, they continue to improve.
