Nothing against KW.....I'm just wondering why we can't seem to execute when we get there.
It ain't everything (i.e. leverage), but a big factor is weight (or lack thereof) in spots. Both Ikard & Mensik are converted TE's who are in their first year of having bulked up for OL play. They've both put on good weight in that year, but fact is, they're still both light (280's) for a current day O-lineman. Having the athleticism of an ex-TE is good when it comes to pass blocking, pulling runs, & such, but when you get down into the cramped quarters of the goalline offense, it becomes much more about having a little lead in your pants & knocking the guy in front of you off the ball, mano e mano & when you're consistently giving up a considerable size advantage, it gets all that much more difficult. We also have the same factor with our current TE's as well. Ratteree (who put on good weight from last year as well but is still only in the 240's), & Hanna is listed at 237. Go back to just last year & you'll see both Gresham & Eldridge in the 260's.

If this is happening next year after the guys have had another year in the program, I'll be a little more worried. As of now, personally I kind of saw this being an issue coming into this year because of what I previously said. That's a few too many spots to be light at in short yardage/goalline.
