Stats pulled from the NCAA information site
http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.jsp?year=2010&div=IA&site=org
TOTAL OFFENSE - OU 13 UCONN 96
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE - OU 10 UCONN 97
TOTAL DEFENSE - OU 58 UCONN 48

The only bright spot for UCONN is their superior rating on Defense. But I think that can be offset by our Strength of Schedule rating but if I am a UCONN fan then they may want to pin their hopes on their superior defense as it seems that is the ONLY FREAKING RAY OF SUNSHINE that they have!!!!!
If we don't beat these posers by 50 I am going to scream.

Never under-estimate a teams 'hail-marry' when the odds seems so stacked against them.

Given the situation, U-Conn will most likely totally re-tool for this game...

This reminds me of the 1991 Gator Bowl against Virginia. OU was pretty much a running team that year. Virginia had a really good team then. Welsh was the coach. I had been living in Virginia for 13 years at the time (military) and was probably more familiar with the Cavaliers than even OU. Didn't have the internet like now. However the Cavs were preparing for a strong running game from OU. OU though came out passing and Cale Gundy set an OU passing record that stood until Josh Huepel. OU won that game 48-14 and George Welsh said that he and his staff had been caught completely off guard preparing for OU.

Yes, I expect UConn to retool somewhat. I think they have to improve their passing game if they hope to have any chance against the Sooners. OU will definitely load up the box to stop the run and Frazer will have to pass to loosen up the Sooner defense. Even then, if they do have a somewhat effective passing game I think it will be difficult for them to win. They are still going to have to stop the Sooners on offense. I don't see that happening at this time.

Is there a stat on whether or not they lift weights or run sprint drills? Man I hope they don't do that.

The only way they can do that is to control the clock.

I think OU got some run-stopping experience in there. We didn't do amazing, but it was still enough to win the games.

Also, FWIW, Baylor and Boone St. also are above Conn. in team rushing, and UCONN is nowhere near the passing threat those 2 are. While the D might not win the game for us, I doubt they'll be losing it either.

oh yeah, I aint that worried. Team rushing isn't what I was talking about. I was talking about some crazy career individual **** going down for that guy. He will be be the most potent use of a rusher we've seen all year, IMO.

We gave up plenty of RY against Nebraska, NBD. Our offense will be the key against uconn. I'm thinking career #'s for Landry and Murray.

I posted this in a thread last night. The avg total offensive ranking that they faced in D1 games was 79. Ours was more than 30 points higher.

But, they are one dimensional.

For sure. We just can't get gashed for 200 yards by that one dimension. I don't think we will. They haven't seen anything close to OUr defense all year.

If they gash us for 200 yards, they'll MAYBE get another 40 through the air. I'll take 240 total.
