Interview first, THEN job. Interview, job. Not job, interview. Job interview, yes, but not job, interview.

Given Stoops's history I would think Norvell would be a lock.

Had the same thought, and not sure what to think about it. I recognize he was simply running Callenberger's offense at NU, but his offenses there and at UCLA were pretty underwhelming. Though, that probably was a function of what those schools had for athletes at the time. Guessing if Stoops goes that route they also elevate Heupel to Co-Offensive Coord. As long as they keep the system and add their own "flavas" in the way of wrinkles to the offense Wilson installed I'll be happy with it.

But one thing seems evident to me: We have to stay with the no huddle because of the pressure it puts on defenses. It certainly is the current wave of "innovation" in CFB, much as the wishbone was at one time.

A friend of mine had another theory... Stoops pulls Mangino back in. But I don't think there's any way that happens. (The problems he had at Kansas with the player abuse he was rumored to have here, too.) Isn't the general consensus that he was encouraged to throw his hat in the ring for open jobs?

Anyway, here we go again with the coaching speculation craziness....

Garrick already has an OC position, and I don't see bringing in someone as the boss over two guys who have put in their time and are considered pretty hot commodities themselves. If I'm not mistaken Norvell has been mentioned a number of times in the coaching carousel as a potential HC, much less OC.

My money is on Norvell to be offered the position.

That is, of course, if Wilson does indeed accept the job. If there is no coaching change(s) for us this year for 2011 I'll be perfectly happy.

Fire the Yet to be Named Offensive Co-Ordinator!!

To avoid future "fire <insert OC here> threads", maybe we should just not even hire one. Landry can just wing it, and draw up plays on the football in the huddle like we did as kids... :D

BoulderSooner79
12/6/2010, 04:09 PM
I can see an early posting:

What's this huddle BS? While we're twiddling our thumbs in the huddle, they are bringing in fresh DLs and what happens? They get a sack. Wouldn't have happened if we trapped them out with tired DLs with the no huddle. Fire XXX!

That works for me -- give them both a huge raise. I like the fire that Norvell has -- fits perfectly with Stoops and Josh is why are quarterbacks are so good! Who would have thought when we got Josh Heupel as our quarterback in 1999 that he would turn into such an outstanding coach. What a recruit he was.

PJ Mills was saying tonight on KREF it will be Norvell as the head OC and Josh will be the Asst OC to give him the experience he needs to eventually take over as OC when and if Norvell leaves.

Gundy has said he doesn't want any job other than the one he has according to what various people are saying.

I think Patton has done an amazing job rebuilding the OL considering where it was a year ago. The problems we had on the line last season were not Patton's fault. The offense is clicking right now; it ran into a buzzsaw Saturday night in Dallas, but that was to be expected. It was just effective enough to win. Only OSU and Iowa St. put up more than 23 points against Nebraska.

One of the reasons Bob Stoops has consistently won conference championships is promotes internally. This keeps continuity of philosophy between staff and players.

I hope we do bring in a new Oline coach who can improve the run blocking.
