YOU CAN VOTE FOR MORE THAN ONE AND VOTES ARE ANONYMOUS!

Welcome to the inaugural All-SF.com awards, where after a few pages of debate we come up with topics to vote on and nominees to vote for.

The first of hopefully several topics is the Sooner-related event of the year, which includes any Sooner-related event that really got noticed on this board during the calendar year 2010 (Sorry, Sun Bowl). Without further ado, the nominees:

- OU takes down Nebraska one more time to win Big 12 Championship.
That big ugly Fiesta Bowl trophy will be ours soon!
http://www.tulsaworld.com/articleimages/2010/20101206_big12champ111111206.jpg

- OU nearly wins College World Series
Google Sunny's name before this past season and one of the top search finds is SF.com's old thread on how he had to go. This year spawned the Sunny Galloway appreciation thread (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140829&highlight=cws) after NEARLY knocking off the Cocky gamecocks, who we beat earlier in the CWS. One pitch... which was CLEARLY A STRIKE, would have gotten us there. Boo!

-OU women go to another Final Four
I personally started a single womens basketball thread (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137583&highlight=blogging+wimmens), in anticipation of a great mens season overshadowing a solid, but not spectacular womens team. My, my, how things change.

-Four first round draft picks
Go **** yourself world (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141287&highlight=nfl+draft), OU had three of the top four picks, and four first rounders overall this season.

-Conference realignment crap
Mizzou hates Poke State's academics (isn't that why we all attended OU instead?). Beebe tells everyone to use the phrase "proud Big 12 members" or something. Resident opposing fans come out of hiding to link rumors (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142299&highlight=conference+reallignment). Nebbish leaves. Colorado leaves so that Baylor doesn't take their spot. Texas A&M wants to SECede. Then, somehow, the rest of us agree to stay on board.

-OUI posters declared worthless, flee to soonerfans.com
It's an exodus from ouinsider (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145729&highlight=oui)! And it was fun while it lasted for some of you, who returned to be worthless OUI posters once more after realizing SF.com wasn't OUI.

- Texas sucks (and has crappy statues)
What is worse than a 7-loss season in Austin? Statues that don't even resemble your own whorn stars... and they got quickly farked (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146786&highlight=texas+statues) then quickly removed.

- Pokes get uppity, but still lose
10-win seasons just don't have the returns they used to. Only an Alamo Bowl invite? But, we were supposed to win! OU didn't have any true road wins and we're ranked higher! To facebook! (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148209&highlight=orangepower)

- After bad season, TMZ mentions OU basketball
Willie Warren returned instead of going to the NBA like Blake. We have two McD's AA's in Tiny Gallon and Tommy Mason-Griffin. Then, our season goes down the crapper and to make things worse, TMZ tries to get our probation to continue (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141774&highlight=tmz). Argh.

All right, time to vote. Votes are anonymous, so be honest :) Can't decide between all your favorite Sooner teams? Vote for more than one. Voting last seven days, during which you can plead your case for other topics on the South Oval thread here. (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148431)

I don't consider the pokes losing or us winning yet another BigXII Championship newsworthy since it happens pretty much every year. *smug*

I'm going to say beating OSU. They've had their best team in a long, long, long time and were going to dominate us.

They were going to murder, rape, gut, slap, kick, bite, punch, cut, stomp, and kill us on National TV with College Game Day there.

We beat them in not only Stillbirth but killed their chances of going to the Big XII Championship game and possibly a BCS Bowl Game for the first time...ever.

They already beat Texas this year so beating us would put them up a level in terms how their program is viewed.

We knocked them back down where they're now into repeat of previous years. A win not only killed their ego but sent us to win the final Big XII Championship and to a BCS to get the BCS monkey off our backs.

Not to mention this game made me create the greatest thread in the history of the interwebs.

No love for the baseball team, huh? I chose the Women, Big 12 CC, and conference realignment. Fun stories this year!

I should clarify - they were chosen for significance and noteworthiness, not because we should like one event more than another or anything. So, say you're not a baseball fan. But, wasn't the team nearly winning CWS still significant?

Remember that votes are anonymous and you can vote for more than one. I am kind of surprised by early returns.

So, is this something you guys want more of? If there were subsequent All-SF.com voting threads, would you all partake?

Although my favorite news was winning the Big 12 against NE, I would say the conference realignment crap was the biggest news as it threw college football upside down for a while.

I would have to say that the traffic that Nebbish brought was the least of all nine of these topics, of course, it just happened Saturday and the board's running slow... but you can still get your words in. In order of clogginess:

1- Conference reallignment. You couldn't upload a page, let alone post for a few days.
2- OUI. There were several threads (mostly football and South Oval boards) and tons of new posters.
3- Pokes. There was a massive flood to taunt, then a massive exodus after they lost. Oh man, for a few weeks there couldn't hear the end of their pokeness.
4- Texas. Before, it was usual anti-Texas taunting. Then, it was nothing but Travis Lewis golden hat pictures after the game. Then, it's continued because they continue losing.
5. NFL Draft. A bunch of discussions leading up to it, on the day of, then pictures of them getting introduced at their new cities, then threads during the season updating everyone on how they're doing... especially Sammie. :)
6. CWS. Several threads on this, more traffic to the baseball board than usual. Even a few Gamecock fans jump on to talk.
7. OU women. I put this here mostly as wishful thinking that you all actually would pay attention to the team.
8. TMZ. This was just stupid, but the fact that the team defied high expectations was the real story... and the crap was mostly in 2009, with it just dipping into 2010.
9. Big 12 championship... but it's only a few days old.

75 votes so far... ah well, it was worth a try to see if something new could get off the ground in an "offseason" of sorts

does it really matter that your vote would be "anonymous" ???

who's keeping score ??

badger
12/13/2010, 11:13 AM
The unquestioned event of the year... but I would have to question whether the fact that it happened right before the poll had any bearing. I mean, when ESPN calls anything the greatest ever when it happened in the past few years, don't you just chuckle a little?

In any event, I'm just going to take one more feeble attempt at getting this idea off the ground and after that I'm putting it in the rest of the board's able hands.
