I just noticed the SOS part of the Sagarin Poll. Looks like the PAC was the all-universe conference. Here's the top 10 SOS

1. Oregon St.
2. Washington
3. WSU
4. UCLA
5. Cal
6. ASU
7. USC
8. Oklahoma
9. Colorado
10. Stanford

I'm very perplexed by this. Am I reading it wrong?

I can understand Oregon State for sure considering they played, the then No. 6 TCU, then No. 3 Boise, then No. 9 Arizona, then No. 20 USC, then No. 6 Stanford all capped off against No. 2 Oregon. that is just insane

I'm assuming that's also the reason you see most of the other PAC 10 teams in there as well, considering many of those schools above were ranked when they played each other.

Some of that is confusing to me too. A&M scheduled seems way too high and then others seem way too low. Texas has the 22 toughest schedule ?

I must not be smart enough to read that.

No way the Pac10 was good. They have four bowl teams, and only two of them are worth anything.

Look at all the bowl teams sa*et played (everyone in their division is ranked . . . except them), seven I think, all of them Big XII teams. As for mighty Rice, Wyoming, UCLA and FAU their composite record (15-45) does not do them justice . . .

Yeah, * was this years Baylor. You know how the B12 South is so tough -- every year it's 4 tough games with the Bears being the only team you can really take for granted? Well imagine being Baylor. Instead of playing Baylor, they play OU! Now THAT'S brutal! Except this year the tables were turned. Baylor got a virtual bye week against *, but * had to play 5 teams that were just all better than they were!

Maybe that's whey it's a bit higher. They let the other teams win more times than not.

UCONN slate is rated #64.I think that explains their shiny defensive stats.

PAC 10 sucks. I have lost all faith in the Sagarin Poll. It means nothing.

No way 8 out the 10 toughest schedules are teams from the PAC 10. No way.

Agreed. That doesn't make sense at all. Strength of schedule all within the PAC-10?

I can see where the Pac10 ranks high because all other teams had to play UO and Stanford. But what about the SEC west playing some combination of Auburn, Arkie, LSU, Bama, MSU?

This is very interesting. I created a SOS with the Athlon Pre-season mag earlier this summer and the Pac 10 raped also. Very interesting indeed.
