Great time out by Stoops to save the day before Nebraska faked the punt. It was a game saving call.

I have to admit I was amazed we weren't playing for the fake from the get go, given the time left and how little their offense was doing. But I'm glad we got the TO called.

The replay they showed of Stoops watching the play and calling timeout was great. Really shows how much he's paying attention on the side line. and yes, the defensive player, Carter I think, did a great job alerting Stoops and Co. of the shenanigans.

Just watching Pellini's face was priceless -- he couldn't believe that Stoops had called a timeout. Perfect timing!

Did y'all see the ****-eating grin on Venables' face when he went up to Bob after that timeout? Wonder if Pellini still wants to be friends after that?

lol i know you're joking and it was a great timeout but we did look like we were in position to tackle that guy that had the ball. If someone had the video I'd prove it but then I'd have to prove he'd wrap up during the tackle too :(.

I'll have to go back and look but the guy blocking the gunner on the right side was too far away from the commotion and didn't look like he knew it was a fake (was the only one that didn't), so if that was to be a run/pass option we could have got smoked on it.

Great time out by Stoops to save the day before Nebraska faked the punt. It was a game saving call.

Well sort of.....we declined a 15 yard penalty about 20 seconds before that. Declining the penalty gave them the opportunity to go for it.

I was raised not to decline a 15 yard penalty if it gives the opponent 4th and less than 5 near mid-field. I would rather face 3rd and 19 than 4th and 4 to a desperate opponent.

Good time out after a bad decision. Probably the only decision of the game that I'm upset about.

You don't ever take that penalty unless it gives them a 4th and inches. They did the right thing.

That was a great job by our defense; they knew something was up because they alerted the other players and everyone was standing up. That was a QB in motion, so I'm assuming they were going to throw it. And since it wasn't Taylor Martinez, I assume he would have actually thrown the ball when one of our guys was running at him.

I wondered about that too. I am glad it worked out for us though!!!!

Being down 3 the prudent thing would have been for them to punt. You stay in a safe zone on that kind of punt situation. Basically, you prepare for the fake, so they have about a 0% chance of converting.

Do you remember when OU had 3rd and 24 and got 23 yards? That's why you force them to go to 4th down and decline the penalty.

I agree that OU should have taken the 15 yard penalty but didn't expect OU to do that. In a similiar situation earlier in the year (forgot the other team) OU turned down the penalty.

Bob is always a bit conservative on penalties, declining them if it will be 4th down. He does it a lot on offense too, taking a 5 yard offsides if they gained 5-7 yards on the play. It's actually very predictable.

A great time out, and it makes up for the very poor time out right before halftime.

We called timeout when nebraska had a 2 and 10 on their own 19 with just under 2 minutes left. They then made a first down and drove for a field goal. they probably wouldn't have had time to get into field goal range if we hadn't stopped the clock.

I agree with both calls.

I couldn't understand why Bo was upset. You send your gunner in motion, I would think that gives most teams time to recognize a possible fake and call TO before the snap? Doesn't seem to me it's designed very well.... unless he was supposed to go that direction AS it's snapped...

Definitely a great call on the fake because you know it would have worked had we not called the timeout. How long has it been since a fake/trick play did not work on the Sooners? Ugh. Not counting onside kicks.
