Unfortunately, Stanford will travel better to Miami than Uconn as well. We''ll be playing the Huskies. Luckily, it will be basically a Sooner home game.

Ready to hit the road for Glendale! El Paso last year and AZ this year. Don't want to play Stanford after putting up with that obnoxious tree and band of theirs last year at the Sun Bowl.

Yea they do.

January 2011 games: Sugar, Orange, Fiesta

January 2012 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange

January 2013 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange

January 2014 games: Orange, Sugar, Fiesta

It will probably be Uconn.

They can't pick Stanford. They have to take the Big 10 champ plus the non-AQ, TCU. It'll be Wiskey- Horny Toads in the Rose Bowl.

I have heard they cannot take Stanford as well but there are 4 non-AQ aren't there and Stanford is one of them?

Arkansas, Ohio State, Stanford, TCU, all have the at larges. Arkansas-Ohio State are in the Sugar. The Orange Bowl having the 2nd pick will go for Stanford probably because of their prestige and it will draw in more money if its Virginia Tech/Stanford. Leaving the last pick, the Fiesta Bowl, will have to take Uconn.

The Rose never get's to pick?

GKeeper316
12/5/2010, 02:00 AM
big 10, pac 10, big east, acc, sec, big 12 all get aq. thats 6 teams.

top 2 go to national championship, regardless of conference. that leaves 2 non aq teams. now when we played west virginia, were they not big east champs? we also played boise in the same bowl (fiesta) when they got in as a non-aq.

and you cant have more than 2 teams from the same conference in bcs games each season.

i just don't know if they rotate what bowl has to take the non-aq teams every year.

Okie35

The Rose never get's to pick?

The Rose is always the 1st BCS matchup set in stone. Its usually Big Ten vs. Pac-10 unless they change the rule the beginning of the season. This year they made the rule that the Rose had take the highest non AQ. I don't know how many years that will last though. So yea once Wisconsin won the tie breaker in the Big Ten, it was already going to be Wisconsin/TCU. Well, unless Oregon or Auburn lost.

GKeeper316
12/5/2010, 02:08 AM
i just read the rule. rose bowl is required to take the highest ranked non-aq team if it loses either the big 10 or pac 10 champ to the ncg. so ya... tcu to the rose bowl.

I hope we play Stanford.
I am not a fan of playing them two years in a row but I think we are better off playing the best team available. We have a very young team this year and playing Stanford will help them mature that much more.

that's a dumb rule. they just shouldn't be able to take Illinois like they did a few years ago

there's no reason they shouldn't be able to take Stanford, logically.

Someone has to take TCU anyway. they'd probably get picked before UConn...

If it wasn't for that rule they would've taken Stanford. The Orange would've taken TCU before Uconn. We'd still be stuck w/ Uconn.

I vote for connecticut because they're all like, we were one of the 13 colonies and sh!t. We were all like, we were all in the revolution and helped fight the British.
And I'm all like, Oh yeah, we got like, The Land Run and Will Rogers. We got like the five civilized tribes.
And we got the Flaming Lipps and you got women's basketball.

And you got freakin' hurricanes and snowy weather, which sucks.
And we have... tornados and ... ice storms ... OK, I lost my electricity during the last ice storm. That sucked. OK

We're just better than you in football. End of story

I think I would rather play UCONN instead of Stanford but either would be a good game. We just need to make sure we win because that would do everything for our recruiting!!! With a BCS win, fighting back to win games, a taste of number 1, a Big 12 title, and phenomenal freshman....... Thats and excellent selling point for any recruiter!!!!!!

Why would the Rose pass on Stanford?

It's listed in the BCS rules that the Rose Bowl, b/c it's losing Oregon, is obligated to take a team that is in a Non-AQ conference that is eligible for a BCS bowl. That team this year is TCU. I'm guessing they won't be obligated to do this anymore now that it has happened, judging by the language below. But yeah, that is why Stanford is out and will most likely be picked by the Orange and leave us with UCONN in the Fiesta.

http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/bcs_explained.html

(For the games of January 2011 through 2014, the first year the Rose Bowl loses a team to the NCG and a team from the non-AQ group is an automatic qualifier, that non-AQ team will play in the Rose Bowl.)

I don't know how you could say UCONN travels better when they have never been to a bowl! Just because its Conn. doesn't mean squat, even with the basketball rep. I would rather play Stanford because they are ranked higher than us and we need to finish with a win and a higher ranking.

I'd like to play Stanford, but what "need" does it fulfill? Winning the conference is the biggest accomplishment for the year regardless of who we draw.

UCONN has been to several bowls. They beat South Carolina 20-7 last year in the Papa Johns Bowl.
