My wife was looking in the paper. She came across all these street names in one subdivision. Leaves of Grass, Bell Tolls, Rose in Bloom, Falling Sky and Silent Sun Circle. WTF?

Better than here in Edmond where every other street name has "Oak" in the name - I believe that they required builders to stop because it was becoming confusing for fire and police to get to calls.

Twould be better to have these:

Street and subdivision names are annoyingly and often nonsensically bucolic: Foxgate, Ridgegate, Bridgegate, Elmcreek, Willowcreek, Oakgate, Oakcreek, Foxcreek, Elmridge, Oakbridge, Riverview, Rivergate, Riveroak, Riverelm, Rivercreek, Oaklane, Riverlane.

Take a tree or animal species name and combine with the word gate, river, ridge, lane, or bridge and you have the typical generic street or subdivision name for a community full of McMansions.

On the other hand I once saw a street called "Ear Bob Road". Another with the simple but peculiar name "Stumpf". (no home worth more than $50,000 was in sight).

If you're a LOTR fan...That is right over by where I grew up. Went to elementary school right across the street from Rivendell.

One of the Oak Tree Lite neighborhoods in north Edmond has all the streets named after the old English golf club names. (Niblick, Mid Iron, Chipper, etc...) but the one that cracks me up is the street name of Bassie. Funny because it should be Brassie but someone obviously can't spell or didn't research well enough to know the correct name.
