The only way to fight the deficit is to fight the winter chill on your cheeks!

This was from that deficit commission that he's part of. Here's a link to the accompanying story :)

This was one of the lead stories on the news this morning. Really, a beard is news?

I talked to him at the airport in Tulsa circa Nov '98. He was in full Jeremiah Johnson growth then.
The guy on his right is either hypnotized by it, or afraid to look at it so much so he seems to have drifted off...

If Tom Coburn wants a beard, Tom Coburn will have a beard. That's what I like about Tom Coburn.

It was funny to see News 9 (GOPTV) defend him for being against unemployment benefits which affected millions of Americans right before Christmas.
It's easy to be all for balancing the budget when you have a government job, government transportation, government benefits, and government health care. Read my linked article "Empty chamber" to read some about TC's shenanigans, and how ineffective the senate generally is.

Your're redefining the issue here. He has no problem using governmental funds which profit his causes, but acts like a money saver when it comes to others. This post-Bush, new-found, desire to be accountable with money, I'm sure has nothing to do with the Dems being in the white house.
He and the state of Oklahoma have yet to return a single dollar from the stimulus money, yet in theory he's is against it. Read the article I have linked.

He was angry with spending back when Bush was in office, even when Republicans were still in the majority and he'll continue to complain about overspending even if he's part of a 100-Republican Senate, 400-something Republican Congress and a Republican president. That's just how Dr. Coburn is.

Probably. I don't think I could grow a beard that cool.
