This list reminded me of a statement attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt - great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people.

What passes for "news" today falls in the later category. Further, if you are going to disucss people these are boring people to anyone but a grocery store checkout line magazine reader.
