Five "finalists" for Offensive Player of the Year, IMO, are:

Landry Jones, Ryan Broyles, Brandon Weeden, Justin Blackmon, and Robert Griffin. Who gets the nod? I won't choose between our two Sooners, but I hope one of them gets it!

OK, Nebbish now has three honorees along with the Pokes' three honorees.

Yes, this means that the Pokes once again did less with more. Two first-rounders last year? No BCS, no conference/division title and NO bowl victory. rofl

It's a numbers game. Blackmon has bigger numbers, and unfortunately that's what counts in the WR position. However, I wish we could see the number of drops each had throughout the year because I'm quite confident that Broyles would have less than Blackmon.

I honestly cannot believe Landry didn't make it. No worries though, he has two more years, and he's on the right track.

Blackmon getting it over Broyles is no surprise. He will likely get the Biletnikoff over Broyles as well. Blackmon's numbers are flat-out ridiculous and he is deserving of the award.

Not surprised that Weeden or Griffin ended up with all BXII honors considering what their teams did this year. Honestly, I have a hard time thinking that either couldn't post numbers as good as Landry at OU. And this year's OU offense, along with last year's, has lived up to the "gimmick offense" label that so undeservedly thrust upon it when Jason and Sam were running it. The offense all year (and last year w/out Sam) has been designed around bubble screens and YAC. If the pundits all thought we were running a gimmick O with Jason and Sam, what must they think this year?

We should keep in mind that we often get awards simply because we're Oklahoma, or that the talent level at OU allows other players to thrive. I don't mind if voters every now and then want to vote for a Griffin or Weeden based on what they had to work with.

I have a problem with Landry not getting QB. Look at the conference numbers. He has the best QB Rating. Thrown 25 TDs 7 INTs only Robert Griffin has thrown fewer INTs than Landry in conference play. Weeden threw 10.

Landry had more yards, by far more TDs, and threw few INTs and had a higher completion percentage and had better QB Rating and in the face to face game he beat Weeden. I don't get Weeden and Griffin over Landry.

Oklahoma has won the most major awards in the 14-year history of the Big 12 with 25. Texas is next with 22 winners, followed by Kansas State (16); Nebraska (14), Oklahoma State (10), Colorado (7), Iowa State (7), Texas Tech (7), Kansas (6), Missouri (6), Texas A&M (5) and Baylor (2).
