Just saw this on the front of Miami's scout page:

Candidate Bio: Mike Stoops

I'm not a subscriber so I can't read what it says. But that would cause me some serious problems. Do I hate Miami or start to like them if that were to actually happen?

That would be frightening. Shannon had recruited pretty well, so the cupboard isn't bare by any means. Wonder what Mark (def coord for FSU) thinks about that...

they aren't in the same conference, so probably not a problem.

FSU and Miami both play in the ACC.

2 things..

1. he is holding out for a better job possibly
2. he is giving typical coach speak..how many coaches have been "committed" to a place or job and then somehow found themselves in a new job the next month?

Yeah, I'm sure he is holding out for a better job.

I don't think Miami is the best job for Gruden.

I don't see Gruden going to a college team before back to the NFL.

Especially Miami where on a good weekend you have 30-35k fans in the stands...

I can't see Mike and Donna Shalala (university president) hitting it off.

that's right...i forgot that Miami moved from the big east and that's one reason the big east sucks so bad now.

Flavor Flav would be their best candidate. They'd win about as many games, but what they'd gain in street cred and attendance would be HUGE!!!!

With so many possible NFL jobs being open this year he would be stupid to jump early onto a college job.

If Mike Stoops were to leave Arizona, I would think it would be to take a step up, not a step down to Miami . . . . . just sayin'! ;)

This.

Donna is not going to hire a coaching hothead like Mike Stoops, Will Muschamp, or (especially) Leach. She is going to want someone far more reserved.

Someone far more reserved like.....Randy Shannon?
That worked out real well for them.

Tony Dungy.....perfect fit.

Yeah, it would be. And he has said he would be interested in the right college job.

If Randy Shannon was the only reserved coach in the U.S., you might have a point.

Consider Mack Brown. Not a hot head. And he has won big. (It's not his fault he coaches in the same conference as Bob Stoops.) I think Donna wants someone more like Mack and less like Leach.
