Liberal liars like Paul Krugman frequently use a time-honored tactic of attacking a conservative when they speak the TRUTH!

Then, after a TIME, they end up saying the same thing.... hoping that enough time has gone by that the liberal, couch potato, and reality TV voters will forget what they said, and who they attack back "then".

Case in point:

Krugman: Death Panels, VAT Will Fix Debt Crisis
Sunday, 14 Nov 2010 05:31 PM Article Font Size
Economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman says the only way the U.S. will get its debt crisis under control is by the use of "death panels" and a national sales tax.
The national sales tax, referred to as value-added tax (VAT), which governments across Europe use widely, will help cut the U.S deficit, Krugman argues.
Krugman made his comments on ABC's “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” during a roundtable discussion about the economy and the recent findings of the U.S. Debt Reduction Commission.

Here's the key excerpt:
"Some years down the pike, we're going to get the real solution, which is going to be a combination of death panels and sales taxes. It's going to be that we're actually going to take Medicare under control, and we're going to have to get some additional revenue, probably from a VAT. But it's not going to happen now."

What was Krugman accusing conservatives of a year or more ago:

Paul Krugman on “Death Panels”: Krugman’s at it again!
According to Newsmax.com, far Left economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman stated that the only way for the United States to get its debt crisis under control is with “death panels” and a national sales tax. Krugman made these comments as a guest on ABC’s “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” last Sunday (Nov. 14) during a roundtable discussion about the recent findings of the U.S. Debt Reduction Commission (See video at FoxNation ). Krugman opined as follows:

“Some years down the pike, we’re going to get the real solution, which is going to be a combination of death panels and sales taxes. It’s going to be that we’re actually going to take Medicare under control, and we’re going to have to get some additional revenue, probably from a VAT. But it’s not going to happen now.”

This is the same Krugman who lambasted Sarah Palin and other conservative critics of Obamacare for using the term “death panels” in their fight against Obamacare. In a follow up Newsmax story, Krugman’s history of ridiculing Republican opposition to Obamacare based on so-called “fabrications” about “death panels” to scare grandma is delineated:

•August 13, 2009 “Right now, the charge that’s gaining the most traction is the claim that health care reform will create “death panels” (in Sarah Palin’s words) that will shuffle the elderly and others off to an early grave. It’s a complete fabrication, of course.”
•August 20, 2009 “It seems as if there is nothing Republicans can do that will draw an administration rebuke: Senator Charles E. Grassley feeds the death panel smear, warning that reform will “pull the plug on grandma,” and two days later the White House declares that it’s still committed to working with him.”
•October 4, 2009 “The Republican campaign against health care reform, by contrast, has shown no such consistency. For the main G.O.P. line of attack is the claim — based mainly on lies about death panels and so on — that reform will undermine Medicare. And this line of attack is utterly at odds both with the party’s traditions and with what conservatives claim to believe.”
•March 21, 2010: “Politicians like Sarah Palin — who was, let us remember, the G.O.P.’s vice-presidential candidate — eagerly spread the death panel lie, and supposedly reasonable, moderate politicians like Senator Chuck Grassley refused to say that it was untrue. On the eve of the big vote, Republican members of Congress warned that “freedom dies a little bit today” and accused Democrats of “totalitarian tactics,” which I believe means the process known as “voting.”
So what are we to conclude doctor Krugman: That “death panels” will be necessary to balance the budget deficits that you specifically criticized for not being large enough to stimulate the economy? But whatever we do, don’t tell the elderly because we’ll only scare the old fools. Meanwhile, according to your recommendations, the Obama stimulus wasn’t large enough, hence we, the U.S. taxpayers, should take on more debt and mortgage the future of the next generation, because it will all turn out okay, we’ll just pull the plug on grandma and save a whole bunch of inflated dollars. (Soylent Green here we come; we’ll just eat the elderly!) This is all coming by the way from a so-called Noble Prize winning economist! Of course, after making his rather provocative comments, Krugman decided to explain himself in a follow up NY Times column, “Death Panels and Sales Taxes”. What he really meant to say was: health care costs will have to be controlled, which will surely require having Medicare and Medicaid decide what they’re willing to pay for — not really death panels, of course, but consideration of medical effectiveness and, at some point, how much we’re willing to spend for extreme care.

Are we clear now? In other words, the decision about when a person is to be taken off life support or denied ongoing life sustaining treatment will no longer be a made between the patient or the patient’s family and the physician, but rather in our new and improved health care system (Obamacare) it will be a decision made by government bureaucrats who will determine the “medical effectiveness” of the procedure, and “at some point, how much we’re willing to spend for extreme care,” or, er, “death panels.” Got that? After all, we’ve got to control costs, after we’ve bankrupted the country and devalued the dollar to the point of worthlessness. Don’t we now?
