"I'm glad to get the hell away from Texas," said former Husker football player and Outland Trophy winner Larry Jacobson. "When the Big Eight took in the teams from the Southwest Conference, we were kind of the good guys coming to the rescue. But since it happened, everything has moved to Texas. It's time to get away. I won't miss it."

Then the Husker legend paused.

"I'll miss Oklahoma and maybe Colorado a little bit," he admitted.

He's not alone.

"I wasn't a big fan of the Big 12 when that took place," said Jacobson's teammate, Jeff Kinney, one of the heroes in Nebraska's victory over Oklahoma in the 1971 "Game of the Century." "The Big Eight was special, very special. At least during my senior year, everybody was pretty competitive."

Bo never fit in with our staff. I think Bob likes him and respects him in some ways, thinks he's totally off his rocker in other ways.
