Yeah, time for the bowl system to look in the mirror.

Also, the Big East, or any league, should be forced to give up its AQ to the BCS if it can't fill all of its bowl slots.

Good for them. They should be proud.

What is funny is that even if * went to a bowl at 5-7, and even if they won, they would still have a losing record!

In a related topic, I wonder what this, and talks of Muschamp going to UGA, will do to recruits committed to *?

Even crazier than this, the Pac 10 (who has been considered all year as one of the top 3 conferences in college football) may only get THREE teams that are bowl eligible (excluding USC, who is bowl ineligible).

If I was a Texas fan, I wouldn't want to even go to a bowl game this year! How embarrassing!

Texas is the entitled spolied little rich kid of the football world. You know the type, always had the best new equipment but no heart. They are entitled to exceptions and demand rules changes when they don't get their way.

* will go to a bowl with a 5-7 record and brag about their bowl eligibility streak.

That would be so embarrassing as a coaching staff to accept a bowl invitation with a 5-7 record. Notre Dame would not accept it. haha

So they are saying there might not be enough teams with winning records to fill all the bowl slots? Then we have too many bowlsThe sad part is you don't have to have a winning record for a bowl berth, just go 6-6.

Nope.

They will survey the landscape and find that there are enough teams to fill all the slots after all. Then they will publicly declare that they will refuse to go to a middling bowl game because "We're Texas!"

Well, Mack does want the extra practice sessions, expect him to lobby strongly.

I still think it would actually be more insulting for them to go to a horrible bowl game at 5-7 then no bowl at all.

How'd you like to put up with the publicity of being the only, or one of the few teams with a losing record in a bowl? ... and if you are in that position, you have to put up with that publicity for the entire bowl season.

Wayyyy too many bowls.

Yea I don't like how you get to go being 6-6. I'd rather them make it at least 7-5. * making it even if they beat the aggies would be a stretch because of their conference record but a bowl will take them because of $$$$

Yea, I didn't even notice it said even w/ 5 wins when I posted the first thing I said. That is pathetic 5-7.

IIRC something like that was offered in Bob Toledo's last year at UCLA. The school declined the offer as they would have wound up paying for their appearance. The USC guys at work were yucking it up over this, again IIRC.

The problem is that you have to lower your standards if not enough teams can get in. The solution is to lower the number of bowl games, not make the requirements harder. The easiest way to lower the number of games is simply to demand more $$$$ to host one.

Texas not going bowling is huge, they lose what 15-20 practices? Coaches use bowl prep to configure the team for NEXT season as well

* not bowling puts them behind the 8 ball in 2011

I'm not for lowering the games. That's not a big deal to me. I'd rather teams that were 7-5 and up get bowl bids. 6-6 is ridiculous to me.

Dude. It's Mack Brown. Based on his results on the field this year, I want him to work with the kids more.

On the whole, I'd rather they not get the extra practices that a bowl game offers. And for the record, I think they'll lose to A&M and will miss out on a bowl berth.

But how funny would it be to see texas lose to, say, East Carolina in the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl and finish the season 5-8 :)

Huh???? OU has two losses in winnable games and is basically one qtr away from serious contention in the MNC conversation. I find nothing good about gloating over a hated rivals demise. I mean is there really any joy in beating a 5-6 texass? Heck, they got beat by some very pedesterian teams.

Nothing good about that my friend.

While I rejoice in the thought of yet another Big XII championship, I'm not prepared to go through the next 8 months wondering what might have been. And, Bob missed the chance to get his mojo back and to resurect BGB.

It's been a very average Sooner season, but not good.

Mack probably gave a participation trophy in the locker room last night to every * player. * didn't lose last night, * ran out of time.

I'm guessing that if offered, Mack will take the bowl game. Those practice sessions are too good to pass up, and it's obvious his team needs them.

If texass made the bowl game that would be very disappointing. And yes I don't think there is a question that there are way way to many bowl games. After all even the Yankees have a bowl game now.
