Latest news: iOS 4.2 is out, but not ready for jailbreak.

Just as Paul had said early this morning, iOS 4.2 has now been greenlit to go live and is available for download to the public. Many iPad users will be excited for this, of course that is unless you require/love/need/want a jailbreak.

If your hoping to jump on the iOS 4.2 firmware, do not expect a jailbreak to be ready just yet. This may take a few weeks to a month, or even a day. What's important right now, is to stay on iOS 4.1 and make sure your SHSH Blobs are saved. This will ensure you can always preform a jailbreak on your device at this firmware version. If you do not want to lose your jailbreak, DO NOT UPDATE to iOS 4.2 yet. Pleas wait until official tools have been updated/released.

While the new features look great, be patient, and in time you will be able to upgrade. But for now, play safe, and stay away from that update.

Ps: If you have an HTC Evo and have never had a problem with it, that's a cool story bro.

News: Jailbreak 4.2.1 with Redsn0w

MartiniBoy got out in front with this earlier today, but I just wanted to make sure the news was on the main page. The Dev-Team updated redsn0w to version 0.9.6b4 today, which, as Nick detailed yesterday, provides an untethered jailbreak of iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 3G, older iPhone 3GS, and non-MC iPod touch 2G, and a tethered JB for the iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 2G (MC model), iPod touch 3G and the iPod touch 4G. thanks to a combination of pwnage2 exploit, the arm7_go exploit, 24kpwn, and limera1n. For best results, upgrade to iTunes 10.1 first.

Again, it's very important to note that if you unlock, you cannot use redsn0w as it will update your baseband. So if you're an unlocker, or have a newer iDevice and would just prefer the security of an untethered JB, wait for the PwnageTool update before loading 4.2.1. Even if you are ready (like I was) to take the plunge, make sure you back up your SHSH first.

I must have a really cool story, bro. I wonder why everyone I know with an iPhone loses 50 percent or more of their calls because of a dropped signal, but my Evo has never dropped one?

I have an iPhone. I just it to make calls, check e-mail and play WWF. I'm kind of boring I suppose.

I've had an iPhone for 3 months and haven't had a dropped call yet.
