and found the exact gun i was looking for... a sigsauer p226r .40 s&w. dude's pricetag on it? $975.00. dude sees me playing with it comes over and i ask him if he'll sell it to me for $700.00. dude laughs. i tell him i can buy one brand new at tinker for $820.00 and ask him why i would spend even close to what he was asking for a used gun. he makes some snide comment that i didn't have the money to buy his gun anyway, so i reach into my pocket and pull out the 2 grand in hundreds i took with me to the show and counted all of it right in front of his stupid inbred redneck face.

just felt like venting my frustration with people that apparently don't understand how the free market works.

Wait, were you venting with the guy by showing him the money, or are you venting here?

The very last sentence is confusing.

Not me, but some people on here understand how the free market works.

it's a nice gun though, but no hand gun should cost $700-900

all i took with me was enough to buy the gun i was after and maybe pick something else up if it looked like a good deal. no need to clear out my savings account for 1 gun show, right?

I think he did. First rule in sales. Don't underestimate the customer. OK I made that up, but GKeeper is in the right.

I don't know much about guns as far as quality and all. been hunting a few times, and I've shot guns a few times at my buddy's range, but that's all I know about guns.

Was it a roll of ones with a hundred on the outside?

Dude.

I cannot think of a single situation where I see myself walking around with 2 grand in cash.

I can't think of a single situation where I wouldn't want to be walking around with 2 grand in cash.

Did you find any hand grenades at that gun show?

Dude was stupid to underestimate a potential customer, esp. at a gun show where people carry cash for sales...

Dude either is VERY proud of his sales items, or thought you looked like you had no clue. My wife could out talk anyone about guns, don't underestimate the customer.

uh, I could think of a few.

most sellers mark their prices up at gun shows BECAUSE of the people
(like you, GKeeper) walking around with wads of cash in their pockets. And complaining about people "not knowing how a free market works?" Dude, it's a gun show. The sellers can charge whatever they want for a gun. Sounds pretty free to me.

That said, yes it was dumb of him to think you (GKeeper) couldn't afford his gun. But on the other hand, if you could buy that gun brand new at Tinker for $820, why did you go looking for one at the gun show?

I hate to say this, but you own the problem.

If a merchant charges too much for their goods, just purchase elsewhere for a cheaper price.

THAT'S how the market works.

No need to get emotional.:)

I bought an M&P 15-22 today at the Frisco gun show. I look forward to wasting a boat load of rounds tomorrow.

I didn't see any hand grenades, but the rocket launchers were everywhere.

cuz a used p226r .40 s&w is a $650-$700 gun, which is all im willing to spend. sticking to your spending limits when carrying that much cash is how you keep that much cash. the only reason i took the extra was if i saw something rare, like a confederate cavalry saber. id kill to get my hands on one of those.

You should have shot the guy, then rummaged through his stuff. He might have had a confederate saber.

Then you could have killed for one of those.

Yeah....shooting a vendor at a Gun show. That would have ended well. He wouldn't have gotten to vent here.

If you're walking around in a tux all the time you should just keep an AMEX card on you anyway.

I paid $699 for this handgun. I believe it to be well worth it.
