that's your fault for using a bank instead of a credit union imo.

i had the same checking account since 1990 with banks that eventually became Chase. 20 years of banking. i start using the U of Colorado Credit Union in about 2000. i have a money market at Bankone/Chase for a few years.

i go to close the Chase account. they give me the balance in cash, and tell me it's closed. i am very explicit about "closing the account". 2 weeks later i start getting emails about overdraft fees. 30, 60, 90$.

i go in, tell them i canceled the account....they say "no, you just withdrew the amount".....BULL****!

after an hour of my life i'll never get back....they finally close the account and try and charge me vis the mail overdraft fees a week later. i go back in...and they take it off. just horse****.

**** Chase.

Heh. Ironically, the money WAS in my credit union. I could have had them cut a check to the people I want to pay (Uncle Sam's OPM), but I decided it would be quicker to put the money in my checking account and then pay Uncle Sam electronically on pay.gov. Silly me! I should have mailed the check, it would probably have reached St. Louis tomorrow.

It just piszes me off to go into the bank, get greeted with a cheerleader smile (from a dopey GUY no less) and then be treated like I was robbing the place.

Sod all their phony niceness!! They smile at your face while the big shots in New York drill you in the lower digestive tract.

Anybody have a GOOD bank?

Consider who the bank is named after, is it any shock they'd try to screw you over with their belligerent ways?

I have an account with Tinker, it's pretty good. Pays something like 3% interest for a checking account, only have to use the account like 10x a month and have a direct billing with it.

I had a Chase credit card up until last year. Basically paid the balance off each month that I used it, and was NEVER late on a payment. Got a notice a few months ago that they would change my rate from 9.99% to 22.35% after my credit score had gone UP over the length that I had the card.

Paid it off online, called them, told them to go **** themselves...never again. Have a new shiny credit card now with a good APR.

Chase is some greedy sons a beeches.

Yeah well.....

:O :P

The bank was Bank of New Orleans in 1978, after 3 or 4 or 5 buy-outs, it became Chase. The good thing is that Chase is almost everywhere. So when we evacuated to OKC for Katrina, the Chase folks in OKC were very helpful, and things were convenient. But it's not worth it any more to know I'm at their mercy in so many respects.

We got statements from Chase 6 months after my Mother In Law passed away along with letters asking her to reopen her credit card accounts. Mind you, those accounts were closed and copies of her death certificate sent/faxed (I don't remember which) to them within days of her passing.

Find yourself a Community Bank or OU Credit Union.
Just say no to the big national banks.

Do they have branches in New Orleans?

I know they have banks in other states like Arizona and Texas (DFW and Houston areas) and a few others. Didn't know if they were in that area of Louisiana yet, I know they aren't here in Austin yet.

BOK has always been good to me.

Me too. I like the fact they have assigned me a "personal banker" who I can call and get stuff squared away fast. Same guy. Everytime. And if I can't get to him immediately, he returns my call within 24 hours.

Yessir. I do not understand why anyone would bank anywhere else.

And for the record, my mortage is with them and they haven't sold my note and promised they never would. I really like keeping my bidness in the Sooner State whenever possible. Ditto my car loan.

I don't know, but with direct deposit of pay by your employer, WTF cares?
