The kid has to run for his life most of the time at Tulsa and is still putting up awesome numbers, and he can run the ball decently, unlike Gilbert.

Texas is clearly hurting by the loss of Earl Thomas (07 Class) and Kheeston Randle (08 class). Both would have been senior leaders this year.

Texas doesn't recruit 5-stars. They recruit, well, TEXAS. If your name doesn't have <INSERT TEXAS CITY HERE>,Texas next to it, you are automatically not on their list of priorities. Yes, I know they sign like, ONE guy out of state every year, but only if he's named OMG KCSTDRD

You could also point out the fact that until Vince left early after the 2005 season, that there has been an increase in players who have left UT early for the NFL, or transferred out.

No argument here, but one of the things Mack prided himself on before Vincent was that nobody left UT early for the NFL. The running joke here was that they got compensated better in Austin than they did making an NFL roster so they had no incentive to leave early.

Players leaving early for the NFL has hurt the OU program as well, especially with a few key defensive players that have left early during the Stoops years.

Think this has anything to do with sMack's recruiting strategy, i.e. evaluation of HS sophomore/junior talent and getting early commitments? Perhaps some HS seniors with guaranteed commitments start developing that "sense of entitlement" that sMack has complained about this year.

the screw job in oregon of '06 didn't keep OU out of the nc game (the texas loss did) but i'll agree with you on the concussion part. if it weren't for that, OU would have been playing osu for it all and not lsu. that's pretty ****ing depressing.

what's worse is that if ou had showed up at colorado. that concussion wouldn't have mattered.
