I read somewhere that OU signed some good kids, but there's nothing "official" on the OU site yet.

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma baseball head coach Sunny Golloway announced the signing of 14 student athletes as part of the 2012 signing class on Wednesday. The recruits signed National Letters of Intent in the early signing period and are set to join the Sooners next fall.

Overall, 12 of the 14 recruits are rated by Perfect Game Crosschecker as prospects for the 2011 MLB Draft. Four of the signees have already been selected in the draft, including three last season.

"We are very excited about this recruiting class," said Golloway. "Just like others in recent years, we feel like it's a strong class that can help us immediately. The coaching staff did another great job in landing a group of players that is full of character and talent that will continue our Sooner baseball tradition."

The OU coaching staff inked seven high school players, including four Oklahoma products, and seven players from the junior college ranks. The Sooners concentrated on adding players to bolster the pitching staff while also landing two infielders, two outfielders and a catcher.

The Sooners signed three of the state of Oklahoma's top 11 players, including the No. 3 and No. 5 prep stars in Mason Hope (RHP - Broken Arrow H.S.) and Adrian Houser (RHP - Locust Grove H.S.), respectively. Joining Hope and Houser from the Sooner state is Clayton Blackburn, a right-handed pitcher from Edmond Sante Fe H.S. and the No. 11 ranked player, and Brian Brightwell, an infielder/outfielder from Putnam City H.S.

Three prep players south of the Red River will join the Sooners with Hunter Lockwood (catcher - Lawrence Dale Bell H.S.), Jacob Rhame (RHP - Denton Guyer H.S.) and Ty Washington (SS- Plano East H.S.).

The Sooners' junior college recruits include a trio of players from perennial power Howard College in Tony Calhoun (RHP/INF), Damien Magnifico (RHP) and Nick Sawyer (RHP). Most recently Zach Neal, a former Howard pitcher, helped lead OU to the 2010 College World Series and was drafted by the Florida Marlins in June. Juniors Burch Smith and Tanner Toal, two former Hawks, signed with the Sooners last fall and are set to make their OU debuts this season.

Rounding out the list of junior college transfers are Garrett Carey (INF - McClennan College), Nick Lee (OF/LHP - Weatherford College), Austin O'Donnell (RHP - N.E. Texas C.C.) and Steven Okert (LHP - Grayson County College).

We definitely cashed in our CWS appearance, this is a highly touted class. Magnifico (great name) is the best Juco in Texas and we signed, or will sign, (Bradley) 3 of the top 5 players in Oklahoma.

And I have heard great things about the SS from Richardson. Apparently he has speed to burn and lots of range in the field.

On another note, Drew Verhagen signed with Vanderbilt.

Now, as always, we just wonder if we can get them on campus.

We have always signed good pitchers. It is great to see that we are signing such highly thought of position players. We used to get one or two a class. Now we are getting six or seven.

Since I can't start a new thread:

Did we scrimmage any D1 teams during the Fall?
