The thing of note to me is the Bama vs. Boise!

Could Bama get the same fate as us? That would really make Boise the media's darling as the giant killer. That would be the 2 most storied programs in history to go down to Boise if they were to win.

As for our bowl projections...... ugh, Not excited bout playing Pitt. Doesn't even sound appealing.

Standford would smash the pokes.

pitt sucks. if it ends up like this, we better stomp them.

lmao @ the big east

Tigeman
11/14/2010, 01:21 PM
Yep, which is why I'm not excited about playing them. We always get stuck w/ the $hitty teams unless it's in the mNCG.

Last year's bowl match-up I liked. But we never get a tOSU, Bama, or other marquee program to match-up w/. F U Big 12 and your $hitty a$$ Fiesta bowl affiliation!

Yes I realize Pitt sorta has a history, but ugh, it doesn't grab me as a good game. We want a big name team, even if they do suck.

I hate to say it, but I'd rather play in the cotton bowl this year against a decent SEC team than in the Fiesta Bowl against a crappy no name East school

Boise will be in the title game if Bama beat Auburn.

mgsooner
11/14/2010, 01:24 PM
agreed, the fiesta bowl is pathetic. Worst BCS bowl, period. Another reason to love the Big "12"

The way I understand it is they only have to be in the top 12 of the BCS standings. If Auburn does end up in the title game then the Sugar Bowl gets to choose any team in the top 12. If Bama is in the top 12, you can book it they will take them.

I would think the Sugar Bowl would rather have a 1- or 2-loss LSU over a Bama team that just lost its 3rd game the last week of the regular season. And I can't see Bama being high enough to be chosen if that were the case, anyway.

That is very true and I didn't even think about that. Even if LSU loses to Ark they would have to be more attractive than a 3 loss Bama. Since they'd be playing a home game and all.

LSU vs. Boise State would be a better game, anyway. The Hat vs. Petersen.

yermom
11/14/2010, 01:38 PM
i gotta say we are an outside shot at Glendale. that would be awesome though

to get there, we need to win out, which means @Baylor, @OSU, the Nebraska in Arlington

to even get to Arlington, aTM has to lose to either Nebraska or Texas in addition to us winning out.

not that i don't think we can win our last two games, but i'm not exactly going to predict it.

Technically we don't need A&M to lose, unless OSU loses to Kansas, which isn't happening. It would just make things easier.

I'm not referring to how good the team is. I'm talking about the perceived quality of the name.

Look at it like this..... your a college football fan in Minnesota, you have no dog in the hunt and you can only watch one of these 2 games....

Would you rather Watch a #20 OU vs. #25 LSU

or would you rather watch a #14 OU vs. a #9 Pitt.

Being a college football fan I'd take the OU vs. LSU matchup b/c of the history of the programs.

that's hilarious, i forgot about the 3 way tie. as long as we stay more than one place ahead of aTm in the BCS, we'd be okay

Texas fans might actually lose it if that happens

They only lost twice. They won't lose to Auburn unless Auburn finds a defense during this bye week.

That projection has Auburn in the title game, which means they would have had to have given Bama their 3rd loss and won the SEC.

I would enjoy watching Bama v. Boise. But then again, I am not a good sport. I enjoy watching games in which my team (in this one I'd be waaaaay over on the Bama side of things) toys with a dull witted foe and then ceremonially slaughters them by many, many points.

Oh, and Bama has a defense, something Boise has only a vague recollection of.

I'll say it up front. That'd be a terrible matchup for Alabama and they'd have nothing to gain from it. Boise would definitely be using Saban's comments from earlier in the year as motivation.

On his radio show after the Boise State/Virginia Tech game. It actually fits with what Dan Hawkins said the difference was between being the head coach at Boise State and being the head coach in a BCS Conference.

Nick Saban weighs in on Boise State

Alabama coach Nick Saban voiced concerns about whether Boise State was a worthy BCS title contender, questioning the team's schedule during his radio show on Thursday night, the Birmingham News reports.

"It's the full body of work," Saban said on his show, according to the Birmingham News. "It's not just that you can beat one team, but if you have to beat six or seven other teams and have to play with consistency to do it, I think that goes a long way in saying a lot about what kind of football team that you have. And that's no disrespect that you have, because they may certainly be able to do the same thing if they were put in that circumstance."
Saban cited that, in 2009 when Alabama won its national title, his team also beat Virginia Tech and "six other teams that were the caliber of Virginia Tech, or maybe better. And maybe more than that if you throw in Texas and Florida in the SEC Championship game."

The Broncos will not face a similar run of difficult opponents. Other than its matchup against Oregon State on Sept. 25, Boise State is expected to encounter little resistance on its way to another undefeated season.
Boise State is rated No. 3 in the USA Today Poll, which is one-third of the BCS formula, along with the Harris Interactive Poll and the computer rankings. The first BCS standings will be released on Oct. 17.

meh, Stanford and Oregon were probably better teams than Pitt

i wouldn't compare them to WV or Boise teams we've played. Boise was undefeated and WV was a late upset and Pat White injury away from playing for the national title that year

WVU that year is just an interesting case study. The late upset, the Pat White injury, to be topped off with the RichRod defection. Everything was there for them to be upset, but they played with that chip on their shoulder to prove they belonged in the conversation.

The folks on SF.com did, but I doubt that had any impact except for the post-game meltdown.

On the opening kickoff the Sooner players were walking about flat footed, the Boise players were bouncing high on their toes and breathing fire. That my friend is underestimating a team.

I will be soooo surprised if we make it to the CCG and win.

I'd be surprised to get there, much less win it.

I think cfn.com hasn't been paying much attention to what is going on in the Big 12 if they have us going to the Fiesta Bowl.
