Landry Jones was in the 7th grade. Does anyone else think that maybe there should be some limit on age, still an amateur, etc with regard to eligibility?

I know there have been a few feel good stories about old guys coming back to fulfill a dream, whatever. When its a case of a guy going off to be a pro athlete, then coming back to play against far younger guys, it just seems a little off to me.

Didn't help Weinke out much against us, but did stir the pot when he won the Heisman.

Does Weeden live in some house in the Stillwater suburbs grilling with the neighbors, polishing his Volvo, while his teammates sleep in a dorm?

It doesn't seem fair. I think once you turn pro in any sport you're a professional athlete, period.

I'm OK with someone serving in the military and then playing college ball.

Agreed. A pro is a pro, no matter what the sport.

Then Pilgrim went on a rape and inappropriate tweet spree.

When Weeden was drafted by the Yankees, Roy Finch, Tony Jefferson, Trey Millard, and company had just completed the 4th grade.

It is within the rules, we have the right to go recruit old baseball players. F Them!

So they can be a pro in any sport as long as it's not American Football?

Doesn't bother me. He has eligibility. More power to him.

Lets supppose Sam Bradford played in the NFL for 4 years, retired, and came back to OU.
He should have 1 year of eligibility left, right?

How would that go over with the national sports media? He'd be the same age as Weeden.

Fair?

Apples to oranges.

The key point is Weeden never turned pro in Football.

I honestly think it's tougher to do what Weeden has done by playing one sport for many years, quitting, and going back to football.

yes, so far as Bradford comes back to play baseball or basketball. But not football.

Here is what I do not understand.

Jeremy Bloom from Colorado got deemed ineligible since he won an Olypmic Gold Medal. Well we all know that gold medalists get their image on a box of cereal....

Did Jeremy Bloom get paid for winning the gold medal in football? No...yet he was deemed ineligible.

I think it is total bull**** that a kid can go play minor league baseball, and then when he realizes that the draft from high school sounded a lot better than what it was, go play college football and be eligible.

The NCAA has double standards and this is one of them. The rule should be about if any athlete gets paid for sports, then they are ineligible period!

Bloom had outside endorsements with winter sports companies. But yes, it was b.s. That he was ruled ineligible.

Neither did Jeremy Bloom (K- Colorado). Yet he got deemed ineligible from the NCAA after winning an Olympic Gold Medal in Skiing.

I'm sure that if it were one of our players (and we have had a few in the past) there wouldn't be this whining.

We've got to be one of the few teams in the country that our starting qb is a walkon and our 3rd best receiver is a walk on. This definitely helps to get us more players on our team that way. Thank you yankees :D

Wow, we had a Colorado kicker return a kickoff against us in the Big 12 Championship game.

Bloom was declared ineligible for endorsement money he was receiving for Olympic training. Nobody endorses a run of the mill minor league baseball player. Apples and oranges.

That's one of the that helps BYU, most of their player go on a two year mission before college. On the other hand, BYU players have no sex until they get married, no drinking, no swearing. That doesn't sounds like college to me.
